The CPB Contractors team delivering the Cross River Rail project are making construction skills and career paths more accessible through the launch of an industry-first electrical trade assistant program.
The training program is being run in partnership with Construction Skills Queensland and Electro Group and combines real-life work experience and nationally recognised training. Over eight days, participants participate in class-based learning, simulated work experience and close out their training with the opportunity to secure employment on the Cross River Rail project.
“CPB Contractors is proud to deliver this program to help make careers in construction more accessible and build capacity across our industry,” said Andrew Large, Cross River Rail Tunnel & Stations Project Director.
All graduates of the program’s first cohort have also secured roles on the Cross River Rail project.
“We’ve already welcomed 10 new electrical trade assistants to our tunnel fit-out teams,” added Andrew.
CPB Contractors is delivering the Cross River Rail Tunnel, Stations and Development package in a consortium with Pacific Partnerships, UGL, DIF, BAM and Ghella. Works in the package include tunnelling works, new underground stations, and ongoing maintenance services.
