AECOM, a leading global infrastructure consulting firm, has proudly announced the opening of the Intuit Dome, the new home of the LA Clippers. AECOM was the lead designer for this iconic arena in Inglewood, California, while a joint venture between AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction managed the facility’s construction. The state-of-the-art venue embodies the Clippers’ visionary leadership, the community’s vibrant spirit, and the deep passion of the team’s fans.
“We are excited to celebrate this significant milestone alongside the Clippers, Intuit Dome, and all our project and community partners,” said Matt Crane, chief executive of AECOM’s U.S. West region. “Beyond enhancing the fan and athlete experience, Intuit Dome is designed to make a lasting, positive impact on the Inglewood community.”
Intuit Dome’s design, from its striking diagrid steel exterior to its innovative interior features, offers a one-of-a-kind, multidimensional experience for guests, with a strong focus on the fans and local community. Sustainability is at the heart of the design, with carbon neutrality as a key goal. The venue integrates Southern California’s climate through an indoor-outdoor approach that allows for natural ventilation at the entrance and upper concourse. The solar-optimized building shell balances natural light with solar heat gain, ensuring energy efficiency. Outside of the court, the venue features a multipurpose plaza with a concert stage, community basketball courts, and public gathering spaces.
“AECOM Hunt has led the construction of over 160 sports venues, and Intuit Dome is among the most sustainable arenas ever built in the U.S.,” said Bob Hart, President of Construction Management at AECOM Hunt. “This project redefines the modern sports arena, and we are proud to work with the Clippers to enhance the experience for athletes, fans, and the Inglewood community.”
“The Clippers are one of the most philanthropic sports organizations in the U.S., committed to being a positive force both on and off the court,” added Bill Hanway, Executive Vice President, Global Sports & Social Infrastructure Leader at AECOM. “The Intuit Dome will play a key role in the ongoing transformation of Inglewood.”
The project’s core design team included notable partners like Anderson Barker Architects, Hood Design Studio, City Design Studio, Walter P. Moore, Henderson Engineering, and Labib Funk & Associates. Scheduled to open for the 2024-25 NBA season, Intuit Dome is located at West Century Boulevard and South Prairie Avenue, next to SoFi Stadium, the Forum, and Hollywood Park in Inglewood.
