Arcis Golf Invests Millions in The Woodlands Country Club Upgrades
Arcis Golf is making significant progress on its multi-million-dollar investment plan at The Woodlands Country Club, just one year after acquiring the prestigious private club. The company had committed to investing more than $30 million into the expansive 99-hole property, and early results are already visible through major course upgrades and broader facility improvements designed to enhance both member experience and championship-level play.
A central highlight of this investment is the comprehensive restoration of the club’s renowned Tournament Course, completed ahead of the Insperity Invitational, scheduled to take place from May 8 to May 10. This annual PGA TOUR Champions event has become one of the most respected tournaments on the senior circuit, and the upgraded course is expected to showcase its full potential to both players and spectators. The event will also be broadcast on Golf Channel, further elevating the club’s national profile.
Located approximately 30 miles north of Houston, The Woodlands Country Club is preparing to host one of the strongest fields in the tournament’s 23-year history. The lineup includes seven members of the World Golf Hall of Fame and nearly 20 major championship winners from the PGA TOUR, combining for a total of 30 major victories. Among the notable participants are Bernhard Langer, a four-time winner of the Insperity Invitational; Stewart Cink, who returns to defend his 2025 title; and Ernie Els, a four-time major champion with longstanding ties to Arcis Golf through its support of charitable initiatives.
According to Blake Walker, the company’s vision for The Woodlands Country Club has always been to respect its legacy while making strategic investments for the future. He emphasized that the goal is not only to elevate the quality of the golf courses but also to create a comprehensive club experience that meets the expectations of modern members and guests. The restoration of the Tournament Course is a key step in ensuring that the venue continues to rank among the premier championship golf destinations in the United States.
The course renovation was led by Beau Welling Design, with a focus on preserving the original design intent while updating performance standards. The 7,025-yard, par-72 course was originally designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge and first opened in 1978. It has a rich history, including hosting the PGA TOUR’s Houston Open during the mid-1980s.
A major component of the renovation involved rebuilding all greens to restore their original shapes while refining contours to support faster modern playing conditions. The greens were replanted with Tif-Eagle Hybrid Bermudagrass, a premium turf known for its consistency, durability, and suitability for championship-level play. These improvements are designed to enhance both professional tournament performance and everyday play for club members.
Additional upgrades across the course included resurfacing and expanding tee boxes, repairing cart paths and bridges, and selectively removing trees to improve turf health and visibility. Work was also carried out along pond edges on several holes, improving both aesthetics and playability. These enhancements collectively ensure that the course meets contemporary standards while maintaining its classic character.
Bryan Naugle noted that the Tournament Course has served as the home of the Insperity Invitational since 2008 and continues to set high standards for championship golf on the PGA TOUR Champions circuit. He praised Arcis Golf for honoring the course’s heritage while elevating it to meet the demands of modern professional play. He also expressed enthusiasm for continuing the partnership and showcasing the upgraded venue to a global audience.
Since completing the course renovation, Arcis Golf has observed growing momentum at the club, with increased engagement and optimism among members. The improvements have reinforced confidence in the club’s future direction and strengthened its reputation as a premier private golf destination.
However, the company’s long-term vision extends far beyond the Tournament Course. Arcis Golf has outlined an extensive plan for additional upgrades across the property. Renovations to the Player Course are scheduled to begin later this year, including restoration of original green contours, bunker reconstruction with modern materials, and fairway adjustments to improve playability for golfers of all skill levels.
Further enhancements will focus on the club’s facilities and amenities. Renovation work on the Tournament Clubhouse is set to begin in the summer, followed by improvements to the Palmer and Player clubhouses. These projects aim to transform the club into a more comprehensive lifestyle destination, offering upgraded dining, fitness, and social spaces.
The redesigned Tournament Clubhouse will feature modernized dining areas, a refreshed bar, and expanded social spaces tailored to accommodate a variety of member activities. A reimagined “Hall of Legends” will celebrate the club’s history through a contemporary gallery-style presentation, while private dining and lounge areas will provide elegant settings for meetings and events.
Outdoor spaces are also being enhanced, including the addition of a two-level Tournament Terrace. This area will offer panoramic views of the course, fireside seating, and flexible lounge zones designed for both large gatherings and casual use. These improvements are intended to create a more vibrant and engaging environment for members and guests.
The club’s fitness facilities are also being upgraded to support a more holistic approach to wellness. The new Tournament Fitness Center will include dedicated areas for strength training, group fitness, recovery, and relaxation, combining high-performance features with the comfort and convenience expected from a private club.
Blake Walker подчеркed that The Woodlands Country Club represents one of the most significant private club opportunities in the country. He noted that while restoring the golf courses is essential, the transformation of the club’s social and lifestyle amenities is what truly completes the vision. The goal, he said, is to create a more connected, welcoming, and enduring environment that meets the needs of members across all aspects of club life.
Overall, Arcis Golf’s investment is reshaping The Woodlands Country Club into a modern, world-class destination that balances tradition with innovation. With continued upgrades planned across courses, clubhouses, and amenities, the club is poised to strengthen its position as one of the premier private golf communities in the United States while delivering long-term value to its members and the broader community.
