South Side Grid Expansion to Meet Rising Demand

Reinhausen Manufacturing (RM), a key player in advanced energy solutions and a subsidiary of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR) of Regensburg, Germany, is pleased to announce the South Side Expansion of its U.S. facility in Humboldt, Tennessee. This strategic development marks another major milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to bolster grid modernization and meet growing energy demands across the United States, especially in critical sectors such as data centers, utilities, and industrial operations.

The U.S. power grid, much of which was built decades ago, is under increasing pressure to evolve and accommodate a rapidly changing energy landscape. With rising consumption from digital infrastructure, renewable energy sources, and smart grid technologies, the need for scalable and intelligent solutions has never been greater. RM’s South Side Expansion is a direct response to this urgent national need.

“With this project, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering groundbreaking solutions necessary to meet evolving industry demands,” said Bob Vary, CEO and President of Reinhausen Manufacturing.Reinhausen Manufacturing (RM), a key player in advanced energy solutions and a subsidiary of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR) of Regensburg, Germany, is pleased to announce the South Side Expansion of its U.S. facility in Humboldt, Tennessee. A Strategic Investment in U.S. Energy Infrastructure

This expansion represents a continuation of RM’s long-term investment strategy in the United States. The South Side Expansion will add 12,000 square feet (approximately 1100 m²) of new production space to the existing Humboldt facility, along with expanded office space to accommodate growth in engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.

Construction is set to break ground in Summer 2025, with a targeted completion date of July 1, 2026. Once completed, the new space will significantly enhance RM’s ability to scale operations, increase production throughput, and maintain fast response times for customers nationwide.

The expansion will support the increased production of RM’s ETOS MD-IV intelligent monitoring systems and enable the continued manufacturing and testing of the RMV-II vacuum tap-changers. These technologies are critical to the reliability and efficiency of modern transformers, helping to ensure energy security and grid stability.

In addition, the facility’s packaging operations will be consolidated and optimized, creating a more efficient and streamlined workflow that supports faster turnaround and reduced logistical complexity.
Prepared for the Future: Growth Through 2030 and Beyond

RM’s expansion is not only about meeting current demand — it’s about preparing for the long-term future of energy infrastructure in the United States. With electric vehicle adoption, data center expansion, and distributed energy resources on the rise, the grid must be more dynamic, digital, and resilient. RM’s expanded capabilities will allow it to better serve its utility and industrial partners through 2030 and beyond.
“This expansion is a testament to our dedication to our customers and the nationwide push for a stronger, more resilient power grid,” Vary added. “By investing in production and assembly capacity here in Humboldt, we are maintaining our focus on innovation and providing faster response times as demand surges across the energy landscape.”

RM’s commitment to domestic manufacturing ensures that the company can respond rapidly to market needs and continue delivering high-quality, reliable solutions without overreliance on international supply chains.

Supporting the Local Economy and Community

The expansion is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the Humboldt and Gibson County communities. In addition to supporting national grid resilience, the project will create new job opportunities in advanced manufacturing, engineering, and administration. RM anticipates that the facility’s growth will also contribute to local tax revenues, helping to fund public services and community development initiatives.

“Reinhausen has a proud history in Humboldt, having served the energy sector from this facility for decades,” Vary noted. “This continued growth highlights the importance of our U.S. operations in the global effort to deliver reliable energy and underscores our focus on strengthening domestic energy infrastructure.”

This project builds on the strong relationship RM has cultivated with the local community and reaffirms its position as a responsible corporate citizen and employer of choice in the region.

A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence

Reinhausen Manufacturing’s Humboldt facility has served as a hub for innovation, quality craftsmanship, and technical excellence for years. The South Side Expansion is the next chapter in this legacy, reflecting RM’s proactive stance in scaling operations while continuing to lead in grid digitization, monitoring systems, and energy efficiency technologies.

The company remains focused on its mission to support the safe, reliable, and efficient transmission of electricity — a foundation of modern society and economic progress.
