Veteran executive brings more than 20 years of development experience to leadership role.
Lendlease, a global integrated real estate group, announced today the appointment of Meg Spriggs to the role of Managing Director of Development for the Americas, effective October 1, 2023. Spriggs, currently the Head of Residential for Lendlease’s Google Development Ventures (GDV) partnership, will be based out of Lendlease’s San Francisco office and report directly to Claire Johnston, CEO, Americas.
In her new role, Spriggs will assume responsibility for the firm’s $21 billion development pipeline in the Americas, including projects in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
“Meg’s collaborative nature and innovative approach coupled with her expertise in market-driven real estate strategy allow her to navigate complex development projects with precision and excellence,” said Claire Johnston, CEO, Americas. “I am confident she will expertly support regional leadership as we continue scaling our Development business, leveraging the capabilities of Lendlease’s integrated platform.”
Spriggs brings 23 years of development experience to her new role, having overseen the acquisition and development of over 4,000 apartment homes, representing over $2 billion in capital across various U.S. markets. In her previous role at Lendlease, she successfully developed and implemented the strategy and business plan for a residential portfolio across four mixed-use districts in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Prior to joining Lendlease, Spriggs held leadership positions with Shorenstein Properties and AvalonBay Communities.
“I’m energized by the opportunity to lead such a talented – and familiar – team as we forge ahead with a multibillion-dollar pipeline of urban regeneration projects that embody Lendlease’s commitment to social and environmental sustainability,” said Meg Spriggs, Managing Director, Development, Americas. “Our Development business is uniquely positioned to support our expanding Investment Management platform, enabling the firm to diversify across geographic markets and asset classes, including multifamily and life sciences.”
Spriggs holds a master’s degree in real estate development from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Spanish from the University of Oregon.
She has received recognition as one of San Francisco Business Times’ “Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business.” Outside of her professional responsibilities, Spriggs has served as Board President of the San Francisco Housing Accelerator Fund and Board Chair and founding Board Member of ArtCare, Friends of the San Francisco Arts Commission. In addition, she is active with the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International and SPUR, a nonprofit public policy organization.
