Tutor Perini Corporation (NYSE: TPC), a leading civil and specialty contractor, has been awarded a $1.871 billion contract by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for major components of the Midtown Bus Terminal Redevelopment in New York City. The project involves construction of a modern seven-story, steel-clad staging and storage facility—located between 9th and 10th Avenues and 39th and 40th Streets—that will accommodate up to 350 buses and temporarily function as a bus terminal during future redevelopment phases. Additionally, the scope includes an innovative ramp structure spanning the block between 10th and 11th Avenues, connecting the future terminal to the Lincoln Tunnel.
Tutor Perini Corporation has expressed enthusiasm over its upcoming involvement in a major infrastructure initiative that aims to transform regional transit and enhance the daily commute for residents across the New York City metropolitan area.
“We are excited to be a part of this transformational project, which will significantly improve the quality of life and regional transportation for commuters throughout the New York City metropolitan region,” said Gary Smalley, Chief Executive Officer and President of Tutor Perini. “Our long-standing and successful collaboration with the Port Authority has enabled us to deliver several large-scale, complex infrastructure projects, including most recently Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport. We’re proud to continue this partnership on another critical project.”
Construction is slated to begin in fall 2025, with the currently planned and funded work scheduled for completion by fall 2028. The contract value will be included in Tutor Perini’s backlog during the second quarter of 2025.
