Turner Construction Leads $31 Million Expansion of Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens
The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens has officially broken ground on a transformative $31 million expansion and renovation project, led by Turner Construction Company. This ambitious undertaking aims to modernize the historic site while safeguarding its architectural and cultural legacy.
The project will introduce 18,000 square feet of new construction and renovate approximately 15,000 square feet of existing space. Designed with a focus on accessibility, sustainability, and enhanced community engagement, the improvements include a fully accessible main entrance, upgraded HVAC systems, expanded parking, and enhanced spaces for events and education. Visitors can also look forward to a new café and a larger gift shop, elevating the overall guest experience.
A key highlight of the initiative is its commitment to maintaining public access throughout the construction process. Strategic planning will ensure minimal disruption to guests and the surrounding conservatory. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2027.
“We are honored to help create a more accessible, sustainable, and enriching space for all who visit,” said Steven Perrigo, Vice President and Business Manager at Turner Construction Company. “The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens are a cornerstone of the community, and we’re proud to preserve their legacy while building for the future.”
