Esther Koplowitz and Her Foundation Honored by the Royal National Academy of Medicine of Spain

During the second annual Academy Day, held yesterday at the headquarters of the Royal National Academy of Medicine of Spain (RANME), philanthropist Esther Koplowitz and the foundation she chairs were awarded the title of Honorary Supporting Member. This prestigious recognition highlights their longstanding commitment and contributions to the advancement of Spanish medicine.

The award was presented in a formal ceremony led by RANME President Eduardo Díaz-Rubio. Ms. Koplowitz received a medal and certificate acknowledging her philanthropic efforts and the Esther Koplowitz Foundation’s sustained support for medical research, education, and healthcare initiatives. Over the years, the Foundation has developed a close partnership with RANME, contributing to projects that foster scientific excellence and the dissemination of medical knowledge.

This latest accolade follows a series of honors that underscore the deepening relationship between Ms. Koplowitz and the Academy. In 2023, she received RANME’s Medal of Honor, and since February 2025, she has served on the Board of Trustees of the RANME Foundation, further cementing her dedication to the values of medical and scientific progress.

The ceremony took place in the Royal Academy’s auditorium and was attended by key figures from the healthcare, academic, and political arenas. Ms. Koplowitz was joined by her daughters Alicia and Esther Alcocer, and her son-in-law Pablo Santos. Other honorees included Dr. Ana Pastor, Executive President of AMA (Agrupación Mutual Aseguradora), and María Tormo, Director of Planning and Development at ASISA.

The event concluded with a Spanish wine reception in RANME’s Patio de Honor and an official dinner at Madrid’s Teatro Real, celebrating the contributions of individuals and organizations dedicated to the betterment of healthcare
