CPB Contractors Celebrates Success at the 2025 CCF WA Industry and Training Awards
CPB Contractors proudly celebrated the achievements of its people and projects at the 2025 Civil Contractors Federation (WA) Industry and Training Awards, held recently in Perth.
The NEWest Alliance — a joint venture delivering critical infrastructure for METRONET — was honoured with the prestigious Aboriginal Engagement Award, recognising the team’s sustained and meaningful efforts to create opportunities for Aboriginal people and businesses. This award reflects the Alliance’s commitment to collaboration, cultural respect, and leaving a lasting positive impact on the communities it serves.
Key highlights of the project’s contribution to Aboriginal engagement include:
- 100% participation in Cultural Awareness Training: All team members completed the training within their first three months on the project. To date, more than 2,000 personnel have gained a deeper understanding of Aboriginal culture through this initiative.
- $85 million awarded to Aboriginal businesses: This represents 5% of the total project contracts, demonstrating a strong commitment to supplier diversity.
- Strong focus on Aboriginal employment: In 2024 alone, 99 Indigenous employees contributed 10.5% of total project hours. Over the life of the project, Aboriginal workers have collectively delivered more than 563,000 hours.
In addition to the team award, Kate Chapman of the NEWest Alliance received individual recognition, being named Communication/Community Relations Professional of the Year. Kate was recognised for her outstanding work in stakeholder engagement, transparent communication, and building strong relationships with more than 10,200 stakeholders across the project — a testament to her leadership and dedication.
CPB Contractors was also proud to have several team members named as finalists in other award categories, showcasing the depth of talent and commitment across the business.
