Greenlane Opens SoCal Zero-Emission Freight Hub (I-15)
Greenlane, a pioneering company dedicated to building essential infrastructure for public commercial electric vehicle (EV) charging and fleet electrification, today announced the grand opening of its state-of-the-art flagship charging site in Colton, California. This significant milestone coincides with the establishment of Greenlane’s inaugural commercial fleet customer, Nevoya, a leading zero-emissions electric trucking carrier and technology-driven logistics platform in the United States.
The strategically located flagship facility, situated at the intersection of the heavily trafficked Interstates 215 and 10, marks a crucial step forward in enabling the transition to zero-emission freight transport along key transportation corridors. Remarkably, the advanced charging hub was completed in a swift eight-month timeframe following groundbreaking, a testament to the effective collaboration between various public and private sector partners who shared a vision for sustainable transportation.
The Colton site boasts an impressive array of over 40 high-speed chargers, meticulously designed to meet the demanding needs of commercial electric trucks. Recognizing the vital role of truck drivers in the nation’s supply chain, Greenlane has also incorporated a comfortable and well-equipped amenities lounge, providing a welcoming space for drivers transporting essential goods throughout the region to rest and recharge.
This flagship location is the first in Greenlane’s ambitious plan to establish a comprehensive I-15 commercial EV charging corridor. The company envisions expanding its network with future charging sites strategically positioned approximately every 60 to 90 miles along this critical freight route, with planned locations in Long Beach, Barstow, and Baker, California. These future developments are contingent upon thorough site viability assessments and the evolving needs of the electric freight industry.
In a parallel announcement, Greenlane proudly welcomed Nevoya as its first commercial fleet customer. Beginning in early May 2025, Nevoya will commence operations with a fleet of electric trucks based out of the Colton charging hub. This strategic partnership will see Nevoya leveraging Greenlane’s advanced charging infrastructure and utilizing on-site office space to facilitate seamless operations. The two companies have ambitious plans to scale this collaboration, potentially encompassing up to 100 of Nevoya’s electric trucks, all powered by Greenlane’s growing charging network. This partnership represents a significant step towards realizing scalable and cost-effective sustainable freight solutions.

The Colton charging site incorporates cutting-edge infrastructure and technology specifically tailored to support the critical freight traffic along the I-15 corridor. This includes a robust deployment of 41 OEM-agnostic high-speed chargers. Notably, 12 of these are pull-through lanes equipped with CCS 400 kilowatt (kW) dual-port chargers featuring advanced liquid-cooled cables, specifically designed to accommodate the large battery capacities and charging requirements of Class 8 electric trucks. Additionally, 29 bobtail lanes feature CCS 180 kW chargers, incorporating intelligent energy management systems to optimize fleet charging operations and minimize downtime. Recognizing the future growth of electric freight, the site is also engineered with precast cable trenching, facilitating future equipment expansion and upgrades to even higher-power megawatt charging as fleet demand increases.
Beyond the advanced charging technology, Greenlane has prioritized the needs and comfort of truck drivers at the Colton facility. The site offers a range of driver-focused amenities, including a spacious and comfortable lounge where drivers can relax and access food and beverage options. A convenient water refill station and well-maintained restrooms are also available. To ensure drivers stay connected and productive, the facility provides complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and mobile device charging stations, along with 24/7 customer support for any assistance needed. Recognizing the importance of security in the freight industry, Greenlane has implemented comprehensive security measures, including round-the-clock on-site attendants, strategically placed security cameras, gated access to the charging areas, and enhanced site lighting to ensure a safe and secure environment.
To further support the broader transportation ecosystem, the Colton site also offers the ability for fleet operators to lease on-site office space, providing a convenient base of operations. Additionally, ample truck and trailer parking is available, offering fleets a secure and convenient location for overnight stays and layovers.

Earlier today, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Colton location to commemorate its official opening. The event featured insightful speeches from key stakeholders, including Greenlane’s CEO, Patrick Macdonald-King; the Mayor of the City of Colton, Frank J. Navarro; Board representative of the South Coast Air Quality Management District and Mayor of Highland, Larry McCallon; Vice President and Chief of eMobility at Daimler Truck North America, Rakesh Aneja; and Chief Commercial Officer of Nevoya, John Verdon.
The development of the groundbreaking Colton charging site was made possible in part through a significant $15 million grant awarded by the South Coast Air Quality Management District under the Carl Moyer Zero-Emission Infrastructure Program, highlighting the crucial role of public-private partnerships in advancing sustainable transportation solutions.
