MoistureShield, RDI Extend YellaWood Deal

MoistureShield® and RDI® Railing, two of Oldcastle® APG’s premier deck and railing brands, have announced the expansion of their distribution partnership with Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., the company behind the well-known YellaWood® brand. This collaboration aims to enhance the availability of MoistureShield composite decking and RDI railing products in strategic markets across the eastern United States, particularly in Hagerstown, Maryland; Rocky Mount, Virginia; Fombell, Pennsylvania; and Millwood, Kentucky.

Matthew Bruce, Vice President of Sales at Oldcastle APG, commented on the significance of the agreement: “Partnering with Great Southern allows us to significantly grow the presence of MoistureShield decking and RDI railing products across the eastern U.S. This strategic alliance positions both companies for substantial market expansion, allowing more customers to Live Well Outside.”

The distribution expansion marks a step forward in Oldcastle APG’s mission to broaden the reach and impact of its signature outdoor living products. Great Southern will now distribute a full range of MoistureShield composite decking and RDI railing systems in these four new markets. This move enhances not only product availability but also the overall customer service experience, reinforcing Great Southern’s one-stop-shop approach for high-quality outdoor building materials.

Mark Smith, General Manager of Great Southern’s Northeast Region, emphasized the benefits of the expanded partnership: “Aligning these products and geographies provides more options for our dealers and further fulfills our pledge of providing world-class customer service with a one-stop shopping experience. With a single call, dealers across the region will now be able to access a more robust portfolio of products inclusive of YellaWood® brand pressure-treated pine, MoistureShield composite decking, and RDI alternative railing products.”

MoistureShield decking stands out in the market for its use of recycled materials and commitment to sustainability. Its Vision®, Meridian™, Elevate™, and Vantage™ composite decking lines are engineered with durability and environmental responsibility in mind. These products are manufactured using post-consumer and industrial plastics, reclaimed wood fibers, and other sustainable materials. Each year, MoistureShield diverts approximately 27 million pounds of plastic from landfills and recycles over 65 million pounds of wood fiber, equating to the conservation of around 15,000 trees. Additionally, MoistureShield products contribute toward LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building certification, making them a prime choice for eco-conscious builders and homeowners.

Complementing MoistureShield’s decking solutions, RDI Railing offers innovative railing systems that are both stylish and easy to install. A standout in the product line is the RDI Elevation Rail, which features a patent-pending OneTen™ built-in centralized tensioning system. This mechanism allows the system to be installed up to 38% faster than leading alternatives by eliminating the need to tension each cable individually. It also minimizes the need for seasonal adjustments, enhancing convenience and performance.

Designed with a sleek, modern aesthetic, the RDI Elevation Rail system includes a continuous top rail suitable for both stair and level applications. The system is highly versatile, with adjustable panels that support installation in a variety of settings—indoors and outdoors—while preserving open views. RDI Elevation Rail comes in pre-assembled kits that include pre-installed brackets and pre-strung stainless-steel cables, reducing on-site labor and complexity.

The expanded partnership between Oldcastle APG and Great Southern Wood Preserving represents a strategic alignment of high-quality products, broad market reach, and exceptional customer service. By enhancing distribution capabilities and product accessibility in key regions, the agreement positions both companies for accelerated growth in the outdoor living sector.

Ultimately, this initiative underscores a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric solutions. For dealers and consumers alike, the expanded presence of MoistureShield and RDI products across the eastern United States means greater opportunities to create beautiful, durable, and sustainable outdoor spaces.
