AECOM Secures Key Role in Thames Water’s £400 Million Professional Services Framework
AECOM (NYSE: ACM), a global leader in infrastructure solutions, has announced its appointment by Thames Water to the newly consolidated £400 million professional services framework, FA1980. This framework integrates several existing Thames Water agreements into a single package and encompasses asset, capital, and engineering professional services. Thames Water serves as the utility responsible for water supply and wastewater management across London, the Thames Valley, and much of southeast England.
The FA1980 framework is a cornerstone of Thames Water’s strategy to enhance water and wastewater services, modernize infrastructure, mitigate leakages and pollution, and contribute to environmental sustainability. It supports the company’s ambitious 2025-2030 business plan during the UK’s Asset Management Plan Period 8 (AMP8) regulatory cycle.
“We are honored to support Thames Water in its modernization and sustainability goals as we extend our critical contributions to AMP8 upgrades across the UK,” said Beverley Stinson, Chief Executive of AECOM’s Global Water business. “Our position as the industry’s leading water supply firm, coupled with our unparalleled technical expertise and local knowledge, enables us to help transform infrastructure serving 16 million customers.”
A Strategic Partnership
Under the framework, AECOM will act as the lead consultant for three key lots covering:
- Multi-disciplinary services.
- Infrastructure-related engineering services and resources.
- Environmental services and resources, including personnel secondment.
Additionally, AECOM will serve as a subconsultant under a fourth lot led by Arcadis, focusing on non-infrastructure engineering services and resources. The framework is set to run for five years, with an option to extend for three more.
“This appointment builds on our long-standing partnership with Thames Water, allowing us to expand and enhance our service offerings,” said Colin Wood, Chief Executive of AECOM’s Europe and India region. “Through this framework, we can deliver strategic advice and technical expertise, ensuring efficient, resilient, and impactful outcomes for Thames Water and its customers.”
Driving Innovation and Collaboration
Preetinder Dhanoa, Capital Procurement Business Partner at Thames Water, emphasized the framework’s importance: “We are delighted to announce these critical awards, which will drive value through innovation and collaboration. This framework is pivotal to the success of our AMP8 program.”
The new agreement replaces previous frameworks, including FA1300, under which AECOM had provided significant contributions, such as seconding 20 staff members to Thames Water.
With this new framework, AECOM strengthens its leadership role in the water sector, reinforcing its commitment to delivering transformative solutions that address complex infrastructure challenges.
