The NDEA is tasked with establishing and maintaining real estate for the defense sector in Norway. The Agency has now commissioned NCC to build a new docking facility at the Haakonsvern Naval Base. The expansion is part of a larger project to construct the necessary maintenance facilities for new classes of submarines in the Norwegian Armed Forces.
This specially designed docking facility will involve underwater works and extensive concreting works. NCC has recently constructed new docks and ports at Hammerfest and Forsöl in northern Norway and the experience gained from these projects will be put to good use in Bergen.
“We now have the opportunity to once again demonstrate NCC’s expertise in dock construction, which will involve demanding underwater works as well as our ability to manage extensive concreting works in this environment. Together with the NDEA, we are now strengthening Haakonsvern’s capacity to accommodate new submarine classes,” says Kenneth Nilsson, Head of NCC Infrastructure.
Work will commence immediately and is expected to be completed in late 2027.
The assignment, worth about SEK 440 million, will be registered among orders during the second quarter of 2024 in the NCC Infrastructure business area.
