CPB Contractors has launched its innovative Women in Construction program in Victoria following the successful rollout in New South Wales.
This unprecedented training and skills program is making a career in construction more accessible for 12 women in Victoria.
Graduates leave the program with job-ready skills and a position on one of Victoria’s infrastructure projects where they can continue their studies with a Certificate III in Civil Construction accreditation.
CPB Contractors has developed the program to share expertise and support capability building within the industry while also encouraging female participation to support capacity.
Michael Kalinowski, CPB Contractors Executive General Manager for VIC, TAS & NZ, said: “Our projects build careers, and as a major contractor, we have a responsibility to drive change and CPB Contractors is thinking differently to create new career pathways for women to join our sector.”
“The demand is there in Victoria, and this program proves it. We had more than 500 women apply for the program, many seeking to reskill from other sectors to work in construction”.
The CPB Contractors Women in Construction program has been tailored to suit the needs of the local industry and is being delivered in collaboration with Indigenous business ECB Group Training and Holmesglen TAFE. The three-week paid pre-employment program offers participants a comprehensive introduction to infrastructure construction through classroom learning and practical hands-on training.
