Specialized Elevator and Wyatt Elevator Merge Operations
Specialized Elevator and Wyatt Elevator have announced a merger that further expands Specialized’s presence as the nation’s largest independent unionized elevator and escalator services provider. The transaction strengthens Specialized Elevator’s operations in the greater Philadelphia market while adding Wyatt Elevator’s long-established regional expertise and customer relationships to the broader organization.
The merger marks another step in Specialized Elevator’s national growth strategy, which focuses on partnering with respected regional elevator service companies while maintaining their strong local identities and customer relationships. Through this approach, the company aims to combine localized expertise with the operational scale and resources of a larger national platform.
Wyatt Elevator was founded in 2012 by Dan Killion, Tom Killion, Billy Killion, and Bob Brumbach. Over the past decade, the company has built a strong reputation throughout the Philadelphia region for providing reliable elevator maintenance, modernization, and repair services to commercial and residential customers.
Known for its customer-focused approach and commitment to service quality, Wyatt Elevator developed a loyal client base across the region while establishing itself as a respected employer within the elevator industry. Its operations have been closely tied to the local market, with the company emphasizing long-term relationships, responsiveness, and highly skilled union labor.
As part of the merger, Tom and Dan Killion will step away from the business to pursue new opportunities outside the company. However, Bob Brumbach will remain actively involved in a leadership role and will work alongside Specialized Elevator to oversee operations in the Philadelphia market moving forward.
Brumbach said the merger allows Wyatt Elevator to maintain its strong community presence while benefiting from the expanded capabilities and resources offered by Specialized Elevator’s national platform.
“Since we opened our doors, our priority has always been delivering unmatched, reliable service to our local community,” Brumbach said. “Joining the Specialized platform allows us to maintain our deeply rooted presence in Philadelphia while plugging into a powerhouse of national resources. Our clients will continue working with the same familiar faces, but we are now equipped with the operational backing to elevate our service standards to an entirely new level.”
The merger reflects broader consolidation trends occurring across the elevator and escalator services industry, where independent regional providers are increasingly partnering with larger organizations to access expanded operational support, technology, purchasing capabilities, and workforce resources.
For Wyatt Elevator’s founders, finding a partner that aligned with the company’s culture and commitment to employees was a major consideration during the process.
“Building this business alongside my family and partners has been an incredible journey,” said Dan Killion. “When we started thinking about the next chapter, we leaned heavily on Lift Business Advisors to find an organization that truly valued our people. Specialized stood out immediately because they share our core philosophy. We are stepping away with complete confidence, knowing our legacy in Pennsylvania and our dedicated mechanics are in the best possible hands.”
Specialized Elevator is backed by Berkshire Partners and has continued expanding its footprint across the United States through acquisitions and partnerships with regional elevator service providers. The company’s strategy centers on maintaining strong local brands while integrating them into a unified operational platform that offers customers broader service capabilities and nationwide reach.
In the Philadelphia market, Specialized currently operates primarily under the TEC brand and will now also include Wyatt Elevator within its portfolio. Company leaders say preserving established local brands is an important part of maintaining customer trust and supporting continuity in regional markets.
Donovan McKeever said the merger strengthens Specialized’s ability to continue building a high-quality national service organization while also supporting union labor and workforce development.
“We are dedicated to setting the national standard for elevator service and being the employer of choice for the best talent in the I.U.E.C. Wyatt has a great team, and we look forward to working with them,” McKeever said.
McKeever, who has spent nearly three decades working in the elevator industry, also noted his long-standing respect for Wyatt Elevator’s reputation and technical expertise.
“Having spent nearly three decades in the trade, I’ve long admired Wyatt Elevator’s work,” he added. “Bringing the Wyatt team into our fold is a natural evolution of that shared commitment to quality.”
Jim Core described the merger as a significant milestone in the company’s long-term growth strategy.
“Welcoming Wyatt into our family of brands represents a major milestone in our strategic growth,” Core said. “The Wyatt team has cultivated a phenomenal reputation for quality and trust throughout the greater Philadelphia area. By integrating their regional expertise with our robust national infrastructure, we are further solidifying our position as the premier elevator service provider in the country and ensuring our customers continue to receive the highest standard of care in the industry.”
Following the merger, the combined organization will employ more than 500 members of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) and service approximately 25,000 elevator and escalator units across the United States.
The expanded company will continue providing maintenance, modernization, repair, and inspection services for elevators and escalators in commercial buildings, residential properties, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other infrastructure environments nationwide.
Industry analysts note that demand for elevator modernization and maintenance services continues to grow as aging building infrastructure, stricter safety requirements, and increasing urban development drive long-term investment in vertical transportation systems.
With the addition of Wyatt Elevator, Specialized Elevator further strengthens its regional presence while continuing to build a broader national platform focused on service quality, workforce expertise, and long-term
