WEAVE LIVING and KKR Expand Tokyo Residential Portfolio Through Strategic Partnership

WEAVE LIVING, the Asia-Pacific region’s leading living sector specialist, and global investment firm KKR have announced the acquisition of six residential properties in central Tokyo. The move strengthens their strategic partnership under the Weave Living Japan Residential Venture I (WLJRV I), which now encompasses 17 properties just six months after its launch.

Three of the newly acquired properties are situated in Tokyo’s prestigious Minato ward, specifically in Roppongi, Minami Azabu, and Shirokane. These will showcase the premium WEAVE RESIDENCES brand, featuring spacious, fully furnished homes designed for families and discerning executives. These upscale residences aim to address the increasing demand for high-quality rental options in Tokyo’s supply-constrained neighborhoods.

The remaining acquisitions will be branded under WEAVE PLACE, offering stylish private apartments with multiple furnishing options to serve a diverse mix of tenants, including local professionals, expatriates, and corporate renters. In total, the new sites will deliver over 240 fully furnished rental units, with availability expected beginning in fall 2025.

“We’re excited to deepen our footprint in Tokyo through our continued collaboration with KKR,” said Sachin Doshi, Founder and Group CEO of WEAVE LIVING. “The debut of WEAVE RESIDENCES in Japan marks another step in our mission to offer design-driven, flexible living solutions tailored to different life stages. Each property reflects the unique appeal of its location, and we’re committed to elevating the rental experience across the city.”

Kensuke Kudo, Managing Director of Real Estate at KKR, added: “This expansion highlights our confidence in Japan’s residential sector and in the strength of our partnership with WEAVE LIVING. We are committed to delivering high-quality, differentiated living solutions to meet the evolving needs of tenants in Japan. This is a key milestone as we continue scaling this dynamic platform.”

KKR is making the investment through its Asia real estate strategy. The deal adds to KKR’s growing presence in Japan’s property market, which includes investments in hospitality and office assets, multifamily housing, and KJR Management—operator of two J-REITs.
