222 North City: A Milestone in Urban Living for San Marcos
The $345 million 222 North City project is set to bring 460 much-needed residential units and premium retail spaces to San Marcos, redefining urban living in North San Diego County.
Turner Construction Company, in collaboration with Sea Breeze Properties and Safdie Rabines Architects, celebrated a key milestone with a topping-off ceremony attended by over 600 people, including city officials, project partners, and community members. San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones emphasized the development’s transformative impact on the city, highlighting its role in addressing housing needs and fostering economic growth.
“This project exemplifies the vibrant, walkable neighborhood we envision for North City, blending arts, culture, and innovation,” said Mayor Jones.
A Vision for the Future
Part of the larger North City master-planned community, 222 North City will feature two 12-story towers offering panoramic views of the San Marcos ridgeline, Palomar Mountain, and the Pacific Ocean. Designed by Safdie Rabines Architects, the development emphasizes wellness, social connection, and sustainability.
Scheduled for completion in late 2025, the amenity-rich project will include:
- A lush rooftop deck with trellised gardens, pools, and outdoor cabanas.
- A state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga room, and creative office spaces.
- Immediate access to vibrant dining, retail, and entertainment options.
“This project sets a new benchmark for urban living in North County,” said Martine Sanders, Vice President and General Manager of Turner Construction Company. “It’s a testament to the bold vision of Sea Breeze Properties and the collaborative effort of our partners.”
A Community-Centric Design
Positioned near California State University-San Marcos, the development integrates seamlessly into the thriving North City district, which hosts the weekly San Marcos Farmers Market, local eateries, and cultural events. With pedestrian-friendly design and proximity to major transit routes, 222 North City supports a low-carbon lifestyle while fostering a sense of community.
“This is more than a building—it’s a catalyst for community-focused urban living,” said Taal Safdie, Principal at Safdie Rabines Architects. “By blending green spaces with dynamic retail opportunities, we’re creating a vibrant hub for connection and innovation.”
As North City continues its transformation into a dynamic urban hub, 222 North City stands as a beacon of progress, promising to enrich the lives of San Marcos residents while setting a new standard for urban development.
