Keppel, a leading global asset manager and operator with expertise in sustainability and connectivity, has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This collaboration focuses on advancing data center capacity, subsea cables, renewable energy, and generative AI solutions worldwide. The agreement was formalized at AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas by Keppel CEO Loh Chin Hua and AWS CEO Matt Garman.
As part of the partnership, Keppel has selected AWS as its preferred cloud provider. The two companies will work together to accelerate AI and machine learning adoption across Keppel’s operations, leveraging Amazon Bedrock to build an AI platform. This partnership aligns with Keppel’s commitment to sustainable operations and innovation in connectivity.
Keppel will assist AWS in expanding its infrastructure globally, providing AI-enabled data center capacity and access to renewable energy sources. Keppel’s expertise in developing advanced data centers and its extensive global network of partners will help meet AWS’s infrastructure needs, including land identification for new facilities and meeting the high standards of AWS’s data center designs.
In addition, the collaboration will enhance network connectivity through subsea cable systems. Keppel is already developing the Bifrost Cable System, which will be the largest high-speed transmission cable across the Pacific Ocean when completed.
Both companies share a commitment to sustainability and will focus on energy technologies to decarbonize power consumption, including low-carbon and net-zero energy solutions. This initiative supports AWS’s goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
The partnership will also foster generative AI innovation, with a focus on designing an AI platform that accelerates Keppel’s growth strategy. This platform will serve as a central hub for AI use cases, driving productivity and innovation across Keppel’s operations.
Manjot Singh Mann, CEO of Connectivity at Keppel, highlighted the strategic importance of this agreement, emphasizing how it positions Keppel as a leader in data centers and connectivity. He stated that the collaboration would drive innovation in sustainability and AI, supporting both AWS’s global goals and Keppel’s technological growth.
Jeff Johnson, ASEAN Managing Director at AWS, expressed excitement about the collaboration, underscoring its significance in driving sustainable digital transformation and creating long-term value for businesses and communities across the region.
