After earning a degree in Architectural Engineering in Chicago, he obtained his pilot’s license at Lansing Airport. He now works with JMA Architects, the firm responsible for developing the renovation plans for the Historic Ford Hangar.
The project is being led by Principal Architect James Maciejewski, AIA, who says the architectural team is working closely with the State Historic Preservation Office to develop an approach that respects the building’s history while allowing it to serve a modern purpose.
One of the most important aspects of the project is preserving the hangar’s distinctive cantilevered design. According to the project team, it is the only remaining cantilevered hangar designed by Albert Kahn, making its preservation particularly significant.

The detailed renovation plans will be formally presented to guests attending the Historic Ford Hangar’s 100th Anniversary Gala on Friday, September 18.
