Eiffage Route inaugurates Sovatrise

Eiffage Route and Séché Environnement are inaugurating Sovatrise, a platform for the valorization of non-inert earth and concrete, in the Mi-plaine industrial zone, in the municipalities of Chassieu and Saint-Priest (69). Sovatrise constitutes a new local service for the management, treatment and reuse, after decontamination, of waste produced on urban, real estate and industrial development sites in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Optimizing the sorting of this waste leads to the reuse of almost 100% of the land after decontamination in a circular economy logic.

An innovative partnership

Séché Eco Services (SES), a subsidiary of Séché Environnement, specializing in the depollution, dismantling and rehabilitation of industrial sites and Eiffage Route, expert in the management of road works and urban development, have joined forces to set up a dedicated platform to the treatment and development of land in the heart of the Lyon metropolis. Sovatrise meets the needs of large local development and infrastructure projects often constrained by space and deadlines in a logic of short circuits.

With a total surface area of 16,500 m2, the platform operated by the Séché Eco Services (SES) teams can accommodate up to 150,000 tonnes/year of non-inert soil or concrete. It is designed as a multi-sector tool making it possible to identify and isolate polluted fractions contained in the land and to eliminate all types of pollution thanks to targeted technical solutions: sorting, screening, washing, physico-chemical treatment, treatment biological or thermal treatment.

A circular economy and biodiversity preservation solution

After these decontamination operations, the 2nd life materials obtained (fertile substrate, aggregates, materials for road use, etc.) can be reused following a sobriety approach in substitution for natural resources, while maintaining perfect traceability. Sovatrise aims, through its activity of sorting and processing non-inert waste, to make the most of these materials in local development projects.

Thanks to the rehabilitation of land through the reclamation of industrial wastelands in the Auvergne-Rhône Alpes region, Sovatrise contributes to the “zero net artificialization” objective by 2050, provided for within the framework of the “Climate and Resilience Law” of August 22 2021, and the preservation of agricultural land and biodiversity.

The result of the first collaboration in the AURA region between a public works company and a waste management player, this innovative platform strengthens the loop of the circular economy of materials, one of the strategic axes of the ecological transition approach shared by the Séché Environnement and Eiffage groups .
