Construction Begins on Major Workforce Accommodation for CopperString 2032 Project
CPB Contractors, in joint venture with UGL, is advancing the CopperString 2032 project, with construction now underway for the first and largest workforce accommodation site in Hughenden. Once completed, the site will house up to 450 workers and feature a variety of amenities, including gym and recreation spaces, dining areas, kitchens, and food storage facilities.
Additional accommodation sites are also planned in Richmond, Julia Creek, Cloncurry, Pentland, and Charters Towers to support the teams working on the new 840km high-voltage transmission lines.
Engagement with local councils and stakeholders remains a priority. Recently, representatives from CPB Contractors and UGL attended the Hughenden Show and the Green Energy Forum. In the coming weeks, the team will host Powerlink’s Supplier Capability Development Program at the CopperString 2032 Experience Centre in Townsville.
The CopperString 2032 project, delivered by CPB Contractors and UGL, involves constructing 840km of high-voltage transmission lines across North and North West Queensland.
