The Bechtel-ENKA Morava Corridor Motorway team has been awarded the prestigious Global Program Management Award by the International Road Federation (IRF). This accolade highlights exceptional leadership and excellence in managing and delivering road infrastructure projects that promote global mobility, safety, and sustainability. Bechtel’s commitment to delivering transformative, world-class infrastructure that sets new industry standards earned them this recognition.
“We are deeply honored to receive the prestigious Program Management Award, recognizing our commitment to industry leadership, continuous improvement, and raising the bar for project management standards,” said Shawn MacCormack, Project Director for the Morava Corridor Motorway. “This achievement reflects the dedication and expertise of the Bechtel-ENKA Morava Corridor Motorway Project team. I am incredibly proud of their hard work and collaborative spirit in delivering exceptional results on this complex project. Together, we are building infrastructure that connects communities and shapes a more sustainable future in Serbia.”
Patrick Sankey, President & CEO of the International Road Federation, commended the achievement: “Congratulations to Bechtel on receiving the Global Road Achievement Award for Quality Management for the Morava Corridor Project. This recognition is a testament to your unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in delivering world-class infrastructure that drives progress and connectivity.”
This award is the latest in a series of honors for the Morava Corridor Motorway, made possible by the dedication and collaborative spirit of the Bechtel-ENKA team. In October, the project received the IRF Environmental Stewardship Award for its innovative integration of flood protection measures with environmental initiatives, prioritizing biodiversity preservation. The project’s conservation efforts include 37 kilometers of river diversion, 28 kilometers of flood protection dykes, 236 kilometers of drainage systems, 40 culverts, and enhanced safety features such as 492 kilometers of guardrails and 232 kilometers of wildlife fencing.
The Morava Corridor Motorway spans 112 kilometers as a dual carriageway designed for speeds of up to 130 km/h. Following the West Morava River valley, it strategically links central Serbia to Pan-European Corridors 10 and 11, improving connectivity to Bosnia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. The motorway includes 12 interchanges, 79 bridges, 27 overpasses, and 11 underpasses. These features showcase the project’s scale and complexity while reinforcing its role as a vital infrastructure initiative for the region.
