Barnsley Resort Enters a New Era with Renovations and Expansions

Barnsley Resort, a beloved Southern destination, is ushering in a new era of hospitality with extensive renovations and new amenities to commemorate its 25th anniversary in 2024. The ambitious project includes updates to the cottage guest rooms and suites, the addition of a Biergarten, new pickleball courts, enhancements to the Beretta Shooting Grounds, and more. This transformation is guided by South Street Partners, who joined forces with the resort’s longstanding ownership, alongside Davidson Resorts, to shape the next chapter of Barnsley’s growth.

Cottage Renovations

The resort’s 39 standalone cottages, featuring 84 guest rooms and suites, recently underwent a $6.2 million makeover by Charlotte Lucas Design, a firm renowned for its bold and whimsical interiors.

  • Interior Design: The redesign preserves the cottages’ welcoming charm while introducing a sophisticated Southern aesthetic. Bold patterns are balanced with soft details, inspired by heritage colors and the region’s natural beauty.
  • Furnishings: Updates include warm plaids, striped textiles, textured walls, and floral accents. New wooden nightstands, painted dressers, and patterned area rugs complete the look.
  • Bathrooms: Elevated touches such as wood vanities and checkered tile floors create a refined yet cozy ambiance.
  • Exteriors: Cottage facades now showcase a refreshed color palette inspired by nature, with shades like Dried Thyme, Sage, and Alabaster tying the Village Green together.

The final phase of renovations was completed in October, seamlessly blending timeless charm with modern elegance.

Enhanced Guest Experiences

Biergarten
Opening in late November, the new Biergarten features a two-sided stacked stone fireplace and a covered pavilion for al fresco dining and entertainment. Guests can enjoy an evolving menu of regional, German, and European beers, alongside classic dishes like pretzels, bratwurst, and barbecue favorites prepared by the resident pitmaster. Whether for casual drinks or lively game-day celebrations, the Biergarten promises a vibrant atmosphere.

Sporting Upgrades
The Beretta Shooting Grounds, managed by High Adventure Company, now offer an enriched experience with:

  • Two new 15-station sporting clays courses.
  • A five-stand station ideal for group and beginner activities.
  • Helice shooting, an Italian sport featuring spinning, unpredictable airborne targets.
  • A spacious new deck at the Clubhouse for outdoor events.

These additions join the resort’s extensive offerings, including seasonal wingshooting, a Swarovski 1,000-yard challenge, and UTV rides—all conveniently housed in one location.

Pickleball Courts
Six lighted pickleball courts have been added, providing opportunities for leisure and competitive play. The courts also serve as an ideal venue for team-building activities, set against scenic views of the resort’s Jim Fazio-designed golf course.

A Vision for the Future

“We are thrilled about these exciting projects, which elevate the resort to a new level,” said David Friederich, President of Barnsley Resort. “For 25 years, Barnsley has been a place for loved ones to gather and create cherished memories. These expansions not only enhance the guest experience but also introduce Barnsley to a new generation of travelers.”

With its blend of historic charm, modern amenities, and a commitment to delivering memorable experiences, Barnsley Resort continues to stand out as a premier destination for Southern hospitality.
