BAM has been selected by South West Water (SWW) to deliver elements of its £2.8 billion record investment programme, known as AMP 8 Engineering Capital Delivery Programme, setting out to improve major infrastructure and strengthen water resilience in the face of climate change.
The contract awarded to BAM includes improvements to wastewater infrastructure in Cornwall – work that will directly help to eliminate pollution on beaches and increase river and water quality for 3.5 million people across the South West.
BAM forms part of a wider alliance, Amplify, made up of construction partners including Clancy, Mott McDonald Bentley, Tilbury Douglas, MWH Treatment and Network Plus Envolve that will deliver the investment programme for SWW between 2025-2030.
Susan Davy, South West Water’s Chief Executive, said: ‘I’m delighted to introduce Amplify, which will turn our record planned investment of £2.8 billion in the region into reality for customers and communities. We’re already tackling the challenges customers care about most, and by working with our supply chain partners, we will also be creating jobs and supporting the local economy across the Greater South West.’
The Alliance has begun to prepare projects which will assist South West Water with dramatically reducing the use of storm overflows, maintain the region’s excellent bathing waters, and improve water resilience.
The initiative will drive investment into the local economy, creating around 2,000 new jobs, with new treatment works and reservoirs among the investments planned as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to its customers, communities and the environment.
