Budimex Partners with the University of Szczecin

Budimex Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with the University of Szczecin

Budimex, the leading company in Poland’s construction sector and a major player in Central and Eastern Europe, has taken another significant step in supporting education and workforce development by signing a formal cooperation agreement with the University of Szczecin. The agreement, signed on 7 July 2025, marks an important milestone in the long-standing relationship between the company and the university, expanding and formalising a collaboration that has already been flourishing for several years.

Under the new agreement, Budimex and the University of Szczecin will strengthen their joint activities in several key areas, including the organisation of student placements and internships, as well as the implementation of joint research and development projects. These initiatives are designed to provide students with invaluable opportunities to gain hands-on experience and develop practical skills that will prepare them for successful careers in the construction sector and related industries.

“For many years now, we have been deeply engaged in Western Pomerania, delivering large-scale, comprehensive construction projects that have a lasting impact on the region’s development,” says Łukasz Jankowski, Regional Director at Budimex SA. “As Poland’s largest construction company and a regional leader in Central and Eastern Europe, we see it as our responsibility to invest in the education and professional growth of future generations. Many talented graduates of the University of Szczecin have already joined our team, so expanding our cooperation with the university is a natural step for us. It allows us to actively participate in educating the next generations of engineers, managers, and specialists.”

Jankowski further emphasises that Budimex’s workforce is diverse and multidisciplinary, employing not only engineers but also experts in finance, law, environmental protection, and other fields. “A successful construction project cannot thrive without strong foundations and a balanced approach that brings together technical expertise, financial acumen, legal knowledge, and environmental responsibility. Our cooperation with universities like the University of Szczecin helps us build those foundations by fostering the next wave of talent,” he adds.

The expanded partnership will also focus on organising training sessions, educational programs, and research initiatives that connect academic knowledge with real-world applications. Budimex employees will actively participate in these activities, sharing their professional experience and industry insights with students. This practical exposure is expected to enhance students’ qualifications, broaden their horizons, and give them a competitive edge as they enter the job market.

Professor Waldemar Tarczyński, Rector of the University of Szczecin, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting its importance for both the university community and the broader region. “To say that this is an important agreement is an understatement. This is a unique partnership for our university, as we have never before signed an agreement with a partner of such scale and influence,” Professor Tarczyński noted. “Budimex is an impressive company with a strong presence not only in Poland but across Europe. Construction is at the heart of social and economic progress, so this collaboration opens up new possibilities for our students and staff to see how theoretical knowledge translates into practice.”

Professor Tarczyński also pointed out that the partnership is mutually beneficial. While students and faculty gain insights into industry practices and trends, Budimex stands to benefit from the innovative ideas and academic expertise that the university can provide. “This exchange of knowledge and experience creates a dynamic environment for growth and innovation on both sides,” he said.

The agreement reflects Budimex’s broader commitment to promoting career paths in the construction industry and supporting young professionals as they embark on their careers. By offering a wide range of internships and placements, the company aims to inspire students to explore the diverse opportunities within the sector and to develop the skills needed to tackle the complex challenges of modern construction projects.

Beyond its direct impact on students, the collaboration is expected to have positive ripple effects throughout the region. As Jankowski explains, “Large construction projects are not only technical undertakings; they also require highly qualified staff and create new jobs that contribute to local and regional development. By investing in people, we help ensure that our projects are successful and that the communities where we operate continue to thrive.”

Budimex’s strong and diverse project portfolio means that it is constantly expanding its workforce at all levels. The cooperation with the University of Szczecin will help ensure a steady pipeline of talented, well-prepared graduates ready to take on exciting roles in the industry. For students, this partnership offers an exceptional opportunity to gain practical experience, work alongside seasoned professionals, and take their first steps toward a fulfilling career in one of Poland’s most vital sectors.

In an ever-evolving industry where innovation, sustainability, and expertise are more important than ever, partnerships like this one between Budimex and the University of Szczecin are critical. They bridge the gap between education and industry, empower young people to realise their potential, and contribute to the growth and development of the entire region.
