Eiffage Énergie Systèmes is proud to contribute to the development of the KEREA waste recovery plant in Viviez, Aveyron—an innovative and impactful initiative. Scheduled for completion by the end of July 2025, this project represents a significant move toward more sustainable and responsible waste management.
In March 2020, Sydom de l’Aveyron, the public authority in charge of waste treatment, awarded the public service delegation contract to Solena. The project includes the construction and operation of a state-of-the-art waste sorting and recovery facility, featuring a dedicated biowaste processing unit. Solena is committed to delivering innovative industrial solutions to enhance waste recovery and support regional sustainability efforts.
Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, acting as the lead contractor in partnership with ELIT, is proud to contribute to this project by installing three 20 kV HTA transformer stations essential for powering the plant’s process equipment. Our teams are mobilized to lay 24 kilometers of cabling to ensure seamless energy distribution across the site.
Key figures for the KEREA waste recovery plant:
- 2 hectares of surface area
- 250,000 hours of work
- 5,000 trees planted and 27 ponds created as part of a biodiversity initiative
- 5,600 tonnes of materials recovered annually (ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cardboard, wood)
- 3,000 tonnes of compost produced each year
- 13,100 MWh of biomethane generated annually—enough to supply local households
Through this project, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes is actively advancing the energy transition by promoting biowaste recovery, reducing carbon emissions, and improving energy efficiency. The initiative also underscores our commitment to biodiversity and sustainable development in the regions we serve.
Waste recovery plant: Unlike traditional landfills, a waste recovery plant transforms waste into valuable resources—whether materials, energy, or compost—playing a vital role in the circular economy.
