Cllr Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, joined local residents to celebrate the completion of 645 affordable homes at Kidbrooke Village—an achievement made possible through a partnership between the Council, Berkeley, and L&Q.
The milestone was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside Slessor House, the final building to be delivered under this housing initiative. Joining Cllr Okereke were key representatives from the development partners, including Justin Tibaldi, Managing Director of Berkeley Capital, and Neil Davis, Development Delivery Director at L&Q.
The new homes—offered through Shared Ownership, London Living Rent, and London Affordable Rent—have been warmly welcomed by the expanding Kidbrooke Village community. Residents shared their positive experiences of life in the neighbourhood, which has been carefully designed with community, sustainability, and social value at its core.
Kidbrooke Village, a multi-award-winning regeneration scheme, has transformed the site of the former Ferrier Estate into a thriving and inclusive neighbourhood. Construction began in 2010, and since then Berkeley has delivered 1,400 affordable, tenure-blind homes, including the 645 completed in partnership with L&Q.
When fully complete, Kidbrooke Village will comprise 5,400 homes and a wealth of community infrastructure. These include two schools, a nursery, a healthcare centre, on-site Kidbrooke Station, and commercial outlets in Pegler Square—such as Sainsbury’s, YoHome Supermarket and Starbucks—all supported by nearly £60 million in financial contributions. Residents also benefit from 86 acres of biodiverse parkland, including the award-winning Cator Park.
Neil Davis of L&Q commented:
“At L&Q, our mission is to unite social purpose with commercial ambition to create homes and neighbourhoods that residents can take pride in. Kidbrooke Village exemplifies that. While this event marks the end of our current construction phase, we’ll continue to support and manage these homes long into the future.”
Berkeley Capital’s Justin Tibaldi added:
“We’re proud to complete our 645th affordable home at Kidbrooke Village. This project showcases what long-term urban regeneration can achieve through strong partnerships and a shared commitment to delivering lasting value for communities.”
The event highlighted a successful collaboration that is helping to shape a vibrant, connected, and sustainable future for Kidbrooke and beyond.
