Fisk Electric Wins $99M Harris Health Phase 2 Contract
Tutor Perini Corporation, a prominent name in civil, building, and specialty construction, has announced that its subsidiary, Fisk Electric Company, has been awarded the second phase of a significant contract for the new Harris Health hospital project located on the Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital campus in Houston, Texas.
This latest award—valued at approximately $99 million—represents the second phase of a guaranteed maximum price contract that currently totals approximately $166 million. The project covers a broad scope of electrical services for the expansive new hospital development, which will play a pivotal role in enhancing healthcare access across Harris County.
Major Milestone in a Landmark Healthcare Project
The contract win underscores Fisk Electric’s continued leadership in delivering complex electrical systems for large-scale healthcare facilities. In this phase, Fisk Electric will be responsible for providing core and shell electrical infrastructure, as well as tenant finish-out electrical and fire alarm systems for both the hospital tower and podium.
The first phase of electrical work began in the fourth quarter of 2024, while activities under this second phase commenced in March 2025. The full scope of Fisk Electric’s work is anticipated to reach substantial completion in the fourth quarter of 2028, aligning with the broader project timeline for the new hospital facility.
Expanding Capacity: A Vision for Advanced Emergency Care
Once complete, the 14-story Harris Health hospital will serve as Harris County’s third Level I trauma center, representing a critical upgrade in the county’s emergency and trauma care capabilities. The new facility is set to open in late 2028 and will span approximately 1.3 million square feet, offering significant capacity and flexibility for future growth.
The hospital will initially house 390 private patient rooms, with infrastructure in place to accommodate an additional 60 beds as healthcare demands evolve. A rooftop helipad will facilitate rapid emergency transport, supporting the hospital’s trauma designation.
Among the facility’s most notable clinical features will be 15 dedicated operating rooms and an advanced hybrid operating room, allowing surgical teams to perform complex, image-guided procedures in a highly integrated environment. These capabilities will enable the new hospital to offer a comprehensive range of services—from routine surgical care to lifesaving interventions in critical emergencies.
Strategic Investment in Healthcare Infrastructure
This project reflects a growing trend of investment in modernized public healthcare infrastructure across the United States. In rapidly growing metropolitan regions like Houston, the need for new, well-equipped hospitals is essential to meet rising demand and ensure equitable access to high-quality medical care.

By partnering with Fisk Electric, Harris Health is gaining a contractor with a deep track record in healthcare electrical systems. Fisk Electric’s capabilities include precision installation, regulatory compliance, and long-term operational efficiency—making the firm an ideal fit for this mission-critical facility.
Tutor Perini, as the parent company, reinforces its strategic focus on securing large, technically demanding public-sector projects. The inclusion of this second-phase award boosts the company’s construction backlog by $99 million in Q1 of 2025, with an additional $38 million expected to be added for the final phase later this year. Once complete, the entire electrical contract will exceed $204 million, representing one of the more substantial healthcare electrical packages in the region.
Regional Impact and Future Readiness
Beyond its immediate impact on healthcare delivery, the hospital project is expected to generate substantial economic and community benefits. Construction activity will support a range of local jobs and subcontracting opportunities, while the completed facility will require a broad base of healthcare professionals, administrative staff, and support services.
The design of the hospital also reflects a focus on sustainability and adaptability. By including provisions for future bed expansion, advanced medical equipment, and scalable utility systems, Harris Health is preparing its infrastructure to support long-term population growth and potential future public health demands.
Tutor Perini’s Broader Strategy
Tutor Perini Corporation has made consistent strides in strengthening its portfolio of healthcare, public infrastructure, and high-tech projects. This award highlights the strategic value of its specialty subsidiaries like Fisk Electric, which bring technical expertise and proven execution to highly regulated construction environments.
Fisk Electric’s role on the Harris Health hospital project demonstrates its capability in managing multi-phase delivery, maintaining coordination with other trades, and integrating complex systems within aggressive timelines. These skills are critical for hospitals, where functionality, safety, and reliability are paramount.
