The Société Marseillaise du Tunnel Prado Carénage (SMTPC) inaugurated, on October 3, 2023, the new Schloesing underground ramp. With a total length of 845 meters, it connects the A50 and the Prado Carénage tunnel to Boulevard Schloesing free of charge.
A new axis to relieve traffic congestion and develop soft mobility
The first stage of the development program for the large eastern sector of Marseille, this new axis will improve service to the southern and eastern districts of the city as well as the passage of tram line 3.
Its objective is to gradually streamline road traffic, reduce travel times, develop soft surface mobility to better connect the city and promote social and territorial cohesion.
The creation of the Schloesing ramp having led to modifications to the surface of the 26th Centenary park, landscaping is planned to restore the site and create a new green network in the heart of Marseille.
The choice of a public service delegation
As part of its concession contract, SMTPC is responsible for the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Schlœsing ramp, an extension of the Prado Carénage tunnel. To finance the overall investment of nearly 100 million euros, the concession contract was extended by 7 years and 4 months until 2033.
SMTPC entrusted the execution of the work to a designer-builder group, made up of the companies GTM Sud (manager), Eiffage Génie Civil, Eiffage Energie Système and Santerne.
The work on the operation will have lasted 40 months for commissioning on October 7, 2023.
