The 10th Smart Construction Seminar will be held on October 14, 2026, at the special stage of KINTEX Exhibition Center 1, bringing together experts from industry, academia, research organizations and the public sector to discuss how artificial intelligence, robotics and data platforms are reshaping the construction industry.
Under the theme “Next Market, Next Leader – Beyond Technology, Designing the Market,” the seminar will move beyond introducing individual technologies to examine how AI, robotics, digital platforms, carbon-neutral solutions and zero-energy building technologies are changing construction sites and creating new business opportunities.
A central focus of this year’s program is the construction industry’s transition from digital transformation (DX) toward AI transformation (AX), in which AI increasingly connects workflows, supports decision-making and becomes integrated across construction production and safety systems.
Session 1: AI Technologies Transforming Construction Sites
The first session will focus on practical applications of AI in construction. Topics include BIM-based 4D simulation for smart construction management, AI-powered safety technologies for communication dead zones, cloud-based integration of smart technologies, AI and digital transformation in construction, and the future of construction workflows connected by Agentic AI.
Speakers from The View Engineering, Sunggun Engineering, CJ Logistics, Lotte Engineering & Construction and Trimble Korea will share real-world implementation cases and discuss how AI is moving beyond an assistive tool to become part of construction scheduling, safety management and on-site decision-making.
Session 2: AI and AX Innovation to Expand the Construction Market
The second session will address AI- and AX-driven innovation and market expansion. Presentations will cover spatial-information platforms for construction safety, AI interpretation solutions for foreign workers, AI-based 3D site intelligence, AI adoption strategies for construction companies, data-driven AX ecosystems, Construction OS platforms, and smart construction safety combining intelligent monitoring with multilingual training.
Industry participants include Octave, HiLocal, Matterport/WIPCO, AI Management Research Institute, Idea Information Technology, RoitechOne and Hanwha E&C. The session will explore how construction data can evolve from information that is merely collected into AI-ready infrastructure connected to safety, project management, education and field operations.
Session 3: Carbon Neutrality and ZEB as Strategies for the Future Construction Market
The third session will examine carbon neutrality and zero-energy buildings (ZEB) as strategic growth areas for the future construction market. Topics include smart construction technologies for carbon-neutral building certification, AI-based design solutions for zero-energy housing, energy-saving smart indoor environments, and Samsung Electronics’ AI/DT-based smart building solutions.
The program will also introduce a project involving the dismantling and reinstallation of a long-serving steel modular structure, highlighting the potential of modular construction for reuse and circular construction.
10th Edition Shifts the Conversation from Technology to Market Creation
Over the past five years, the Smart Construction Exchange has connected stakeholders across industry, academia, research and government to share emerging technologies and practical applications in smart construction.
For its 10th seminar, the program expands the discussion from individual technologies to two broader questions: what new markets these technologies will create, and what kind of leadership will be required to shape them.
In his invitation message, Sung-Min Cho, Chairman of the Smart Construction Exchange and a director at Korea Expressway Corporation, noted that the construction industry is moving beyond DX toward an AX era in which AI reconfigures production systems as a whole. He described the seminar as a platform for jointly exploring the structure of future markets and the leadership needed to drive them.
Held in Conjunction with K-CONSAFETY EXPO 2026
The seminar will take place on the opening day of the 2026 Korea International Construction & Industrial Safety Expo (K-CONSAFETY EXPO 2026) at KINTEX. The co-location is expected to strengthen exchanges between seminar participants, exhibitors and construction and safety professionals, while connecting the strategies discussed on stage with technologies and solutions presented on the exhibition floor.
The seminar is hosted by the Korea Construction Newspaper and organized by the Smart Construction Exchange and KINTEX, with support from government bodies, public institutions and construction-related organizations.
