ACCO Engineered Systems Expands Manufacturing Capacity with New High-Purity Piping Facility in Arizona

ACCO Engineered Systems (ACCO), a major mechanical contractor in the United States, has expanded its manufacturing capabilities with the addition of a dedicated high-purity process piping fabrication shop at its mechanical piping fabrication facility in Peoria, Arizona. The new operation strengthens ACCO’s ability to provide specialized piping solutions for complex commercial and industrial projects across the state and the broader Southwest region.

The investment expands ACCO’s existing fabrication capabilities and responds to growing demand for highly controlled mechanical and process piping systems. These systems are increasingly important for large-scale facilities such as data centers, semiconductor manufacturing plants and biopharmaceutical facilities, where precise fabrication and strict quality controls are essential to project performance.

With the new high-purity operation, ACCO aims to provide customers in Arizona with a single-source solution covering the design, fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing and process systems.

Expanding Peoria Fabrication Operations

ACCO opened its Peoria fabrication facility in 2025. Since then, the facility has created more than 130 jobs associated with United Association (UA) Local 469. The company expects the addition of high-purity piping production to create another 15 to 20 specialized trade positions per shift.

The expansion increases the facility’s role in supporting major construction projects throughout Arizona. The Peoria operation includes approximately 95,000 square feet of fabrication space, with 10,500 square feet dedicated to the newly developed high-purity environment.

The specialized area is designed to support fabrication requirements for industries where even microscopic contaminants can affect the performance and reliability of piping systems. Semiconductor and biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, in particular, require highly controlled environments and carefully fabricated process systems.

Contamination in these applications can contribute to equipment failures, production interruptions, financial losses and safety concerns. ACCO’s new facility is therefore designed around strict environmental and fabrication controls to support the production of high-purity piping assemblies.

Advanced Cleanroom Capabilities

The new high-purity fabrication area incorporates dedicated spaces for materials receiving, nonclassified clean pipe fabrication and rack assembly. The facility also includes controlled cleanroom environments designed to meet different cleanliness requirements.

Among its key features is an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Class 5, or Class 100, cleanroom with vestibules. A separate ISO Class 7, or Class 10,000, cleanroom is also equipped with dedicated vestibules. A viewing corridor provides visibility into cleanroom operations while supporting the controlled fabrication process.

The facility’s high-purity footprint contains 15 specialized workstations. These workstations are equipped to manufacture orbital- and tungsten inert gas (TIG)-welded stainless steel piping, as well as fused polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) plastic piping.

The high-purity operation complements ACCO’s existing fabrication activities at the Peoria facility. Those capabilities include carbon steel, copper and cast-iron piping, along with structural steel components such as modular skids and racking assemblies.

Specialized Piping Production

The new operation features a range of specialized equipment and systems intended to support high-purity fabrication requirements.

The facility includes an ISO Class 5 certified cleanroom and an ISO Class 7 certified cleanroom. It also has a certified PVDF reverse osmosis/deionized water generation system and certified high-purity bulk gas systems for argon and nitrogen.

The argon system is purified and filtered to 0.003 micron and less than 0.7 parts per billion, while the nitrogen system provides purification and filtration to 0.003 micron.

ACCO has installed four orbital welding stations within the Class 100 environment and six orbital welding stations within the Class 10,000 environment. The stations can handle tubing ranging from 1/8-inch micro tubing to 6-inch pipe.

Five TIG welding stations with orbital capabilities provide additional production capacity for tubing and piping within the same size range. The facility also contains two to four PVDF fabrication stations for plastic piping applications.

These capabilities allow ACCO to address a variety of specialized process piping requirements from a controlled fabrication environment.

Quality Control and Fabrication Equipment

The Peoria high-purity operation also includes specialized cutting and preparation equipment. State-of-the-art tube and pipe cutting systems are designed to support accurate fabrication, while tailored facing equipment provides additional preparation capabilities.

A viewing and navigation station allows fabrication teams to work directly from project drawings. This capability is intended to support accuracy and coordination during the fabrication process.

Quality control is another important component of the new facility. Two-part cleaning stations are equipped with nitrogen for blowdown, cleaning and packaging. These systems help maintain cleanliness during the final stages of fabrication and preparation before components are delivered for installation.

The combination of controlled environments, specialized welding stations, cleaning systems and quality-control processes expands ACCO’s ability to manufacture piping components for applications with demanding cleanliness requirements.

Supporting Growth Across the Southwest

The new Peoria facility adds to ACCO’s broader process piping manufacturing network. The company also operates fabrication shops in California, including facilities in Commerce, San Leandro and Vacaville, as well as locations in Boise, Idaho, and Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The expanded network gives ACCO additional capacity to serve customers across multiple markets and support complex projects requiring specialized mechanical and process systems.

The Arizona expansion comes as demand increases for advanced industrial facilities and other large-scale projects requiring sophisticated mechanical infrastructure. Data centers, semiconductor manufacturing facilities and biopharmaceutical plants all depend on reliable HVAC, plumbing and process piping systems to support their operations.

By adding high-purity fabrication capabilities directly to its Peoria facility, ACCO can expand the range of services available to customers while increasing its capacity to support specialized projects in Arizona.

The investment also strengthens the company’s manufacturing and workforce base in the state. With additional specialized trade positions expected as the new operation develops, the facility is positioned to play a larger role in ACCO’s regional growth strategy.

Overall, the new high-purity process piping shop represents an expansion of ACCO Engineered Systems’ fabrication capabilities and provides additional infrastructure for supporting advanced industrial construction throughout Arizona and the Southwest.
