Oxford Adds Hospitality Veterans Stephen Miller and David Kuperberg to Business Development Team
Oxford Capital Group and its affiliate Oxford Hotels & Resorts have strengthened their hospitality leadership team with the appointment of two highly experienced industry executives, Stephen Miller and David Kuperberg, as Senior Advisors. The strategic additions reflect Oxford’s continued focus on expanding its hospitality management, branding, licensing, and investment platform as the company pursues new growth opportunities across the hotel sector.
Headquartered in Chicago, Oxford Capital Group has built a diverse real estate portfolio that spans hotels, senior housing, residential developments, and mixed-use assets. Over the years, the company has become increasingly recognized for its hospitality expertise through Oxford Hotels & Resorts, which manages and develops a range of lifestyle, luxury, and branded hotel properties. By bringing Miller and Kuperberg into advisory leadership roles, Oxford aims to deepen its capabilities in hotel operations, brand partnerships, acquisitions, and third-party management.
The appointments come at a time when the hospitality industry continues to evolve rapidly, with hotel owners and investors seeking experienced operators capable of navigating shifting travel trends, rising guest expectations, and increased competition across lifestyle and experiential lodging segments. Oxford’s leadership believes the addition of these seasoned executives will further position the company for long-term expansion and enhanced market presence.
Stephen Miller joins Oxford with more than 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having built a distinguished career across executive leadership, acquisitions, development, and asset management. Throughout his professional journey, Miller has held senior leadership positions at some of the most recognized hotel and lodging companies in the sector.
His background includes executive roles at Extended Stay America, Interstate Hotels, Carlson Hotels & Resorts, and Wyndham Worldwide. These experiences gave him extensive exposure to hotel operations, large-scale portfolio growth, investment strategy, and brand management. Most recently, Miller served as Chief Executive Officer of Avantic Lodging Enterprises, where he played a key role in guiding the company’s operational strategy and growth before its eventual sale.
At Oxford, Miller will focus primarily on helping the company expand its third-party hotel management platform. His responsibilities will include leveraging his extensive industry relationships to attract new management partnerships, strengthening capital relationships, and supporting transaction and acquisition efforts when strategic opportunities arise.
Oxford executives believe Miller’s decades of experience in hotel operations and deal-making will be instrumental as the company continues to grow its management footprint nationally. His ability to connect with owners, investors, and hospitality stakeholders is expected to create new opportunities for Oxford Hotels & Resorts in both established and emerging markets.
Based in Dallas, Miller will work closely with Oxford principals and leadership teams to identify opportunities that align with the company’s broader hospitality investment strategy. His transaction expertise and deep understanding of hotel asset performance are also expected to support Oxford’s continued focus on value creation and operational excellence.
David Kuperberg joins Oxford with a strong background in hospitality brand development, mergers and acquisitions, and global hotel expansion. Known for his experience in lifestyle hospitality brands, Kuperberg has played significant roles in shaping and expanding major hotel portfolios over the course of his career.
Before joining Oxford, Kuperberg worked with Hyatt, where he contributed to the expansion of the company’s lifestyle hotel portfolio following Hyatt’s acquisition of Dream Hotel Group in 2023. Prior to the acquisition, he served as Chief Development Officer at Dream Hotel Group, overseeing global development initiatives and helping the company expand its portfolio of boutique and lifestyle hotel brands.
Following Hyatt’s acquisition of Dream Hotel Group, Kuperberg played an important role in supporting the integration process and helping grow the lifestyle brands within Hyatt’s larger global network. His work in this area provided him with valuable expertise in brand expansion, strategic partnerships, and hospitality growth initiatives.
Earlier in his career, Kuperberg also held leadership roles at Virgin Hotels and Wyndham Hotel Group. During his time at Wyndham, he served as Senior Director of Mergers and Acquisitions and oversaw the acquisition of Ramada International from Marriott. The transaction included more than 200 hotels and resorts worldwide and represented a significant milestone in Wyndham’s international expansion strategy.
At Oxford, Kuperberg will focus on supporting the growth of Oxford Hotels & Resorts’ third-party management platform while also advancing brand and licensing opportunities in key markets. His experience in lifestyle hospitality and brand partnerships is expected to help Oxford strengthen its positioning within the competitive hospitality landscape.
Based in Los Angeles, Kuperberg will work closely with Oxford leadership on strategic initiatives related to branding, development, and hospitality platform growth. His expertise in lifestyle hotel concepts and global development strategies is seen as highly valuable as Oxford continues to pursue opportunities in both urban and resort destinations.
According to Oxford leadership, the appointments of Miller and Kuperberg represent an important step in the company’s broader expansion strategy. Founder, Chairman, and CEO John W. Rutledge emphasized that both executives bring highly complementary skill sets and long-standing industry relationships that align with Oxford’s growth objectives.
Rutledge noted that the hospitality industry increasingly requires operators and investment groups to combine operational excellence with strong branding capabilities and strategic partnerships. By adding leaders with backgrounds spanning acquisitions, management, brand expansion, and hotel operations, Oxford aims to strengthen its ability to compete across multiple segments of the hospitality market.
The company’s hospitality platform has continued to evolve in recent years as hotel owners seek experienced management partners capable of delivering operational efficiency while creating distinctive guest experiences. Oxford Hotels & Resorts has focused on developing and managing properties that emphasize lifestyle-driven hospitality, experiential travel, and premium service offerings.
The addition of Miller and Kuperberg is expected to support Oxford’s efforts to expand both owned and third-party management operations while pursuing selective investment and acquisition opportunities. Their combined expertise also enhances Oxford’s ability to build relationships with hotel owners, institutional investors, developers, and hospitality brands.
As the hospitality sector continues to recover and adapt to changing consumer preferences, companies like Oxford are increasingly investing in leadership talent capable of navigating evolving market conditions. The appointments of Miller and Kuperberg demonstrate Oxford’s commitment to building a strong advisory and executive team to guide its next phase of growth.
With decades of combined hospitality experience, the two executives are expected to play a meaningful role in shaping Oxford’s future strategy while helping the company identify new opportunities across hotel management, branding, and investment sectors.
