YIT Tops Construction Employer for Engineering Students Seven Years Running

For the seventh consecutive year, YIT has been ranked the most ideal construction industry employer by engineering students in the 2025 Universum Student Survey, with 2,857 students participating. YIT also holds the top spot among university-educated technology professionals for the fifth year in a row in the Universum Professionals survey.

This year, YIT plans to offer summer jobs and trainee positions to around 350 young people across Finland. Jennie Haasmaa, YIT’s Executive Vice President for People and Culture, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing an excellent trainee experience and a clear career path, even amid challenging economic times. She highlighted YIT’s “Path” training program, which offers a supportive environment for young talent to grow into construction professionals.

YIT’s long-term cooperation with educational institutions and its decade-old Polku trainee program have played a key role in boosting its appeal. Interest among technology students to apply to YIT increased by over ten percentage points this year, well above the industry average.

Thomas Finell, head of recruitment at YIT, noted that meaningful tasks, a positive work community, and strong trainee experiences contribute to this growing trust and interest.

Feedback from trainees underscores YIT’s supportive culture — over the past five years, 97% have wanted to continue working with YIT, rising to 99% in the last two years. The trainee recommendation score (eNPS) last year reached an excellent 59.

In YIT’s annual personnel survey, trainees rated their relationships with colleagues highly, giving an average of 4.3/5, with strong scores for team spirit, support, and development opportunities.
