YIT and A-Kruunu have signed an agreement for the construction of affordable rental apartments in the heart of Jyväskylä. The apartments, supported by a long-term interest subsidy, are part of A-Kruunu’s mission as a state-owned special assignment company to provide reasonably priced rental housing.
Construction will begin with earthworks in August 2025, and the project is expected to be completed by December 2026. The contract is valued at approximately EUR 13 million and will be added to YIT’s order book for the second quarter of the year.
The development, known as Kiinteistö Oy Jyväskylä Kauppakulman D, will encompass about 4,000 square meters of floor area. The building is designed to meet energy class A standards and forms part of the larger Kauppakulma regional development.
“The excellent location on Vapaudenkatu in the city center is sure to appeal to future residents,” said Jari Mäkimattila, CEO of A-Kruunu. “People increasingly value access to services and efficient transport options. Living downtown enables a car-free lifestyle, which is especially popular among younger residents. We’re pleased to continue our strong collaboration with YIT through this project in Jyväskylä.”
Marjaana Nissilä-Ryytty, Regional Director at YIT, added, “We are currently constructing another apartment building for A-Kruunu in the Kangas district of Jyväskylä, set to be completed early next year. It’s rewarding to extend our partnership with this new project. YIT and A-Kruunu have built a solid relationship through several projects across Finland. Jyväskylä’s city center offers an ideal environment for modern, connected urban living.
