The Feil and Weill Family Residence Hall provides sustainable, student-focused living on Manhattan’s Upper East Side
Turner Construction Company and Weill Cornell Medicine have officially opened the Feil Family and Weill Family Residence Hall, a $260 million project that significantly expands student housing on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
The 16-story, 173,000-square-foot residence will accommodate 272 students, providing a modern, wellness-focused living environment just steps from Weill Cornell Medicine’s clinical, research, and educational facilities.
“We are honored to collaborate with Weill Cornell Medicine to bring this outstanding residence hall to life,” said Christopher Zegler, Vice President of Turner Construction Company. “This project reflects our shared vision of creating spaces that are sustainable, supportive, and designed to meet the needs of the next generation of healthcare leaders.”
Emil Martone, Director of Design and Construction at Weill Cornell Medicine, emphasized the building’s role in supporting student well-being. “This new residence was thoughtfully designed to strengthen connections within the student community while providing a restful environment for our students. Its sustainability features work hand in hand with the overall architecture to create spaces that prioritize wellness.”
Sustainability and community are central to the residence hall’s design. The all-electric building uses air-cooled air source heat pumps and is targeting LEED Gold certification. Shared amenities—including lounges, fitness and wellness spaces, study areas, and social hubs—foster collaboration, support health, and encourage a strong sense of community.
