Watt Plaza Leases Space to Carla Café for Second Location
Watt Plaza has finalized a five-year lease agreement with Carla Cafe, a renowned LA-based sandwich shop that gained a devoted following during the pandemic. The new 2,650-square-foot ground-floor space, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating, is set to open in the third quarter of 2025. This will mark Carla Cafe’s second location following the successful launch of its first brick-and-mortar shop in Beverly Grove last year.
“We are thrilled to welcome Carla Cafe to Watt Plaza as an exciting addition to our high-quality amenities,” said Jamie Bergantz, Director of Leasing at Watt Plaza. “Their decision to establish their second location here is a strong endorsement of our building and its prime location in Century City. We look forward to supporting their continued success and growth.”
Carla Cafe’s Journey: From Pop-Up to Prime Location
Carla Cafe was founded in 2020 by owner Avi Ahdoot as a sandwich pop-up, initially taking orders from friends and family. The brand quickly gained traction, thanks to its creative menu and engaging social media presence. Carla Cafe’s Instagram account, which now boasts over 36,000 followers, showcases its signature sandwiches, including the Garlic Aioli Chicken, Pesto Chicken, and its highly sought-after Tuna Chop. The overwhelming response led to the opening of its first official location in Beverly Grove on 3rd Street in 2024.
Ahdoot expressed enthusiasm about the new location, stating, “Following our success over the past five years and the monumental opening of our Beverly Grove shop, we are eager to establish ourselves in Century City. We believe this partnership with Watt Plaza will allow us to expand our impact, meet increasing demand, and introduce our one-of-a-kind sandwiches to a new customer base in this thriving business district.”
Carla Cafe was represented in the lease agreement by Jay Luchs and Carly Geller of Newmark.
