Turner Chosen to Construct Greenwich Central Middle School

The Greenwich Central Middle School project in Greenwich, Connecticut, represents a significant step forward in enhancing educational opportunities and establishing new benchmarks for sustainability. Turner Construction Company, a leader in construction management, has been chosen to oversee the development of this state-of-the-art facility. With a projected budget of $112 million, the initiative includes the demolition of the existing school building, originally constructed in 1958, and the creation of a 135,000-square-foot modern facility tailored to meet both current educational needs and future demands.

A cornerstone of this ambitious project is its focus on sustainability. Designed to surpass Connecticut’s stringent sustainability standards, the new school will incorporate numerous energy-efficient features and cutting-edge technologies. Among these innovations are advanced electrical and plumbing systems, which aim to minimize energy and water consumption. Additionally, the facility will include a rooftop photovoltaic system, enabling the generation of on-site renewable energy and reducing the school’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources. These elements underscore the Town of Greenwich’s dedication to environmental stewardship and its commitment to building infrastructure that benefits both the community and the planet.

Chad McCullough, Vice President and General Manager of Turner Construction Company, expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “We are honored to partner with the Greenwich community on a project that will positively impact students for decades to come,” McCullough stated. “This facility reflects the Town’s commitment to excellence in education and is a model for education facility building practices. We are excited to collaborate with the Town, our design partners, and the local community to bring this vision to life.”

The new middle school will not only provide a modern and inspiring environment for students but also serve as a hub for the community. Designed with future generations in mind, it will feature flexible learning spaces, improved accessibility, and state-of-the-art resources to foster innovation and academic achievement. These enhancements will support the evolving needs of both educators and students, ensuring the facility remains relevant and functional for years to come.

Construction is scheduled to commence in early 2025, with the project’s completion anticipated in 2026. Once finished, the Greenwich Central Middle School will stand as a testament to the community’s commitment to education and sustainability, setting a precedent for future educational facilities across the region.
