Truckloads of memories made at Family Day

A Day to Remember: Family and Friends Celebrate M6 Stage 1 Progress

The recent Family and Friends Day hosted by Transport for NSW’s M6 Stage 1 Delivery Partner team was a smashing success. Held at the Bicentennial Park project site under sunny skies, the event provided the perfect backdrop for the CPB Contractors team to proudly showcase their progress.

Welcoming over 350 guests, the event offered something for everyone. Highlights included guided site bus tours, show bag giveaways, creative activities like coloring and face painting, food trucks serving fairy floss, ice cream, and coffee, a live band, and plenty more.

One of the standout attractions for children was the chance to explore large construction machinery, with a unique opportunity to ride in scaled-down junior versions of the equipment—an unforgettable experience for the little ones.

CPB Contractors’ Senior Methods Engineer shared the enthusiasm, reflecting on how meaningful the day was for her family.

“My son is still talking about all the construction machinery he drove that day… He had a blast! It was an incredible experience for the kids, and it was a proud moment for me to take my mum on a bus tour of the project we’re bringing to life,” she said.

The event was brought to life through collaboration with local businesses, social enterprises, and Indigenous-owned companies. Guests also enjoyed interactive cultural experiences, such as making traditional bread with Aunty Beryl and creating art symbols with Indigenous artist Dennis Golding.

The M6 Stage 1 project is a joint venture by CPB Contractors, UGL, and Ghella under the CIMIC Group. The project entails constructing an underground motorway connecting President Ave, Kogarah, and the M8, along with mainline tunnels, exit and entry ramps, and shared pedestrian and cyclist pathways.

The Family and Friends Day not only celebrated the project’s milestones but also strengthened the sense of community and pride among the team and their loved ones.
