The group led by VINCI wins the contract for the market to recover excavation materials from the French side of the Mont-Cenis Base Tunnel (Lyon-Turin)

Contract worth 800 million euros
• Treatment of 23 million tonnes of materials
• More than 50% of materials reused for the construction site
• A 120-month project

The board of directors of TELT (Euralpin Lyon Turin Tunnel) awarded the contract for the recovery of excavation materials from the French side of the Mont-Cenis base tunnel (lot CO11), to the group composed of Eurovia Alpes (subsidiary of VINCI Construction, agent), Carrières du Bassin Rhônalpin and Terélian (subsidiaries of VINCI Construction), SATM and Granulats Vicat (subsidiaries of VICAT), Spie batignolles valérian and Spie batignolles malet, as well as GIE GMM 73.

The contract, worth 800 million euros, concerns the industrialization of the management of the 23 million tonnes extracted on the French side, in a circular economy logic with an objective of reusing more than 50% of these materials on the project sites.

This extraordinary project will include three final disposal sites, three materials processing stations, eight logistics platforms, 15 km of conveyor belts and a complete rail loading site.

In addition, 78,000 hours of integration and training will be carried out during the 120 months of work.

VINCI Construction is already present on the Lyon-Turin site with the digging of 23 km of twin-tube tunnel between Saint-Martin-de-la-Porte and Modane, carrying out preparatory work on the Avrieux well site, located at the future Modane security site as well as on the La Maddalena niche site, on the Italian side, for the creation of lateral niches to widen the tunnel and the security reinforcement of the vault. VINCI Construction will be able to draw on the historical experience of the VICAT group on the TELT project.
