According to Capterra’s 2024 Tenant Experience Survey, nearly 75% of tenants say advanced tech like smart appliances and keyless entry can influence their rental decisions. The global survey of 4,800 tenants shows U.S. renters lead in tech adoption, with over half (53%) having access to online payment portals, and 46% using online document and maintenance request portals. However, 35% of property owners still lack convenient tech offerings, which can negatively impact both parties.
Upgrading tech leads to tangible benefits like positive reviews. Businesses with enhanced technology report improved convenience, efficiency, and security. Tenant satisfaction can also boost property managers’ online reputation, as 82% of surveyed tenants would write a positive review based on their current rental experience.
Tenants favor quick communication, preferring SMS text messages or messaging apps (32%) over other digital tools. Email follows at 22%.
