Suffolk Appoints Patrick Lucey GM of Northeast to Drive Growth

Suffolk, a leader in the construction industry and the largest contractor in the Northeast, has announced the promotion of Patrick Lucey to the role of General Manager of the Northeast region. In this position, Lucey will oversee Suffolk’s largest operation, managing the company’s extensive employee base and portfolio of projects.

John Fish, Suffolk’s Chairman and CEO, expressed his confidence in Lucey’s ability to lead the Northeast division. “Pat has been an integral member of the Suffolk family for the past 20 years,” Fish said. “He has successfully led some of the most iconic and complex projects the company has ever undertaken. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Pat exemplifies leadership and integrity, which makes him the ideal candidate to drive the growth and success of Suffolk’s largest operation.”

Lucey’s promotion aligns with Suffolk’s broader strategic plan, AC28 (America’s Contractor 2028), which aims to position the company as the most successful contractor in the country by leveraging technology, data, and AI to offer clients exceptional service. The strategy envisions double-digit growth and aims to maintain Suffolk’s culture while fostering an environment of operational excellence and innovation.

Lucey, who joined Suffolk as a project engineer in 2005, has accumulated extensive experience in nearly every aspect of the company’s operations. He has worked on diverse and high-profile projects, giving him a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to successfully deliver complex builds. In his most recent role as Executive Vice President, Lucey managed a $2 billion project portfolio and helped launch Suffolk Design, the company’s in-house team of design and engineering experts.

In his new role, Lucey will continue to drive operational excellence across the region. He brings a proven track record of utilizing cutting-edge technologies like virtual modeling, Lean construction methodologies, robotics, and AI to improve project delivery and create value for clients. His leadership is expected to play a key role in realizing Suffolk’s goals of maintaining high standards of performance while achieving robust growth.

“I’m honored to take on this new role as General Manager for the Northeast,” said Lucey. “Suffolk is an incredible company, and I’m deeply grateful for the support I’ve received throughout my career here. Our team is committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in construction, and I’m excited for the next chapter in our journey.”

Lucey has overseen some of the most notable projects in the City of Boston, including the Mandarin Oriental Boston Hotel and Residences, the Millennium Tower, and the Encore Boston Harbor Hotel and Casino, the largest single-phase development in Massachusetts. He also managed the award-winning Boston Logan International Airport Terminal E Modernization and several other significant projects that have left a lasting impact on the city’s skyline.

Beyond his work in construction, Lucey is dedicated to community service. He regularly volunteers in neighborhoods where Suffolk operates and serves on the board of Heading Home, an organization that provides housing and support to homeless individuals and families in Massachusetts. Additionally, he is an active supporter of The Giving Circle, a nonprofit entirely funded by Suffolk employees that helps provide financial aid to members of the built-world community during difficult times.

Lucey is also involved with several industry organizations. He serves on the board of NAIOP, a commercial real estate advocacy group, and the Fishers Island Utility Company. His leadership within the industry and commitment to giving back underscores his values and dedication to Suffolk’s mission.

With a degree from Williams College, Lucey lives in the Boston area with his wife, Kate, and their two sons. In his free time, he enjoys coaching his children’s flag football teams, further demonstrating his commitment to family and community.

Suffolk’s promotion of Lucey reflects the company’s continued dedication to internal talent development. As part of its growth strategy, Suffolk has focused on promoting leaders from within, ensuring that the company is well-positioned to succeed in the fast-evolving construction industry. This approach is central to the company’s goal of leveraging data, AI, and other technologies to enhance its service offerings and fuel long-term growth.

“We’re committed to fostering leadership and providing opportunities for our team members to grow within the company,” Fish added. “Pat’s promotion is a testament to Suffolk’s culture of developing strong leaders who understand the intricacies of our business and are well-equipped to drive our future success.”

Suffolk’s Northeast region is home to the company’s largest and most diverse portfolio of projects. As General Manager, Lucey will play a critical role in maintaining the region’s position as a leader in the construction industry while driving innovation and delivering high-quality projects to clients across a range of sectors, including healthcare, life sciences, education, gaming, transportation, and more.

Suffolk’s reputation for excellence in construction management has earned it recognition as one of the largest domestic builders in the United States. The company’s commitment to using technology to improve project delivery and drive efficiency sets it apart in the highly competitive construction market. As Suffolk continues to expand its operations, Lucey’s leadership will be key to maintaining the company’s position at the forefront of the industry.
