STRABAG Wins €150M Poland Mobility Contracts

STRABAG Strengthens Leadership in Polish Mobility Infrastructure with €147 Million Projects

At the start of this year, STRABAG Sp. z o.o., the Polish subsidiary of the European construction technology group STRABAG SE, secured two major road modernization contracts worth approximately €147 million (around PLN 621 million). These contracts further reinforce STRABAG’s leading position in mobility infrastructure across Poland, showcasing its expertise in large-scale road and urban transport projects.

Modernizing the DK25: Key North-South Corridor Upgrade

One of the flagship projects involves the planning, modernization, and dual-carriageway upgrade of the national road DK25, a vital route connecting the A2 motorway and the S11 expressway. This north-south corridor plays a crucial role in Poland’s road network, facilitating regional connectivity and supporting economic activity.

STRABAG has been awarded the longest section of this project – an 18-kilometre stretch from Zbiersk to Kokanin – by the Polish motorway authority, GDDKiA. Under a design-and-build contract, the project includes the construction of eleven engineering structures, comprising six road viaducts, four service viaducts, and one service bridge.

The project’s core objectives are to enhance road safety, increase traffic capacity, and reduce travel times for commuters and freight transport alike. Expanding the road to two lanes in each direction will alleviate congestion and improve mobility in the region. STRABAG is also incorporating wildlife crossings and noise barriers to protect local fauna and reduce environmental impact.

Construction on the DK25 is expected to continue until the second half of 2029, with the upgraded infrastructure set to benefit both local communities and long-distance travellers. The project exemplifies STRABAG’s commitment to combining engineering excellence with sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Urban Mobility Upgrade: “Tram for Łódź” Project

STRABAG is also playing a pivotal role in enhancing urban transport through the EU co-funded project “Tram for Łódź”, which focuses on modernizing and reconstructing urban roads to support tram infrastructure. This initiative covers approximately 130 roads across Łódź, aiming to improve connectivity, mobility, and the city’s environmental footprint.

Within this project, STRABAG has been awarded the contract to upgrade Broniewskiego Street, a key urban artery stretching between Śmigłego-Rydza Avenue and Rzgowska Street. The scope of work includes widening the street to accommodate tram tracks, modernizing tram junctions, and creating dedicated lanes for cycling.

The project is designed to enhance connections between residential areas and the city centre, reduce travel and transfer times, and improve traffic flow across the urban network. Additionally, the upgrade contributes to emission reduction and a better urban microclimate, aligning with broader sustainability objectives.

Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, ensuring that residents and commuters will soon benefit from a safer, faster, and more environmentally friendly transport network. The “Tram for Łódź” project reflects STRABAG’s ability to integrate innovative urban planning with modern mobility solutions.
