PYBAR Secures Contract to Provide Underground Services for Jericho Copper Mine

PYBAR, a leading underground mining contractor, has secured a four-year contract with a one-year extension option from AIC Mines to provide underground development services at the Eloise Copper Mine Complex in northwest Queensland, Australia. The complex encompasses the existing Eloise Mine and the Jericho deposits.

The $149 million contract includes constructing a 3km underground link drive for Jericho from the Eloise decline, which is located 125m below the surface, as well as developing 600m for stockpiles.

James Glover, General Manager of PYBAR, stated, “PYBAR has been working at AIC Mines’ Eloise Copper Mine since 2020. We are proud that this is our third contract at the Eloise Complex and our second with AIC. This win reflects our strong operational performance, reliability, and commitment to workforce safety. We look forward to continuing our strong delivery for AIC Mines.”

Michael Wright, Thiess Group Chair & CEO, congratulated PYBAR on this contract, their first since joining the Thiess group of companies on 31 May 2024. Wright commented, “This underground mining contract exemplifies the Thiess Group’s strategy to diversify our services and commodities portfolio. We look forward to supporting PYBAR’s growth ambitions across Australia and beyond.”

Additional equipment mobilisation for the Eloise Mine is set to begin in July 2024, with work on the Jericho development having started earlier this month.
