Since its launch more than 15 years ago, Built to Honor has become one of the nation’s most impactful veteran homeownership initiatives. The program recognizes the sacrifices made by injured service members by gifting them newly built, mortgage-free homes in thoughtfully planned communities across the United States. These homes provide veterans and their families with the opportunity to focus on rebuilding their lives without the financial burden of a mortgage.
The true value of the program extends well beyond the day homeowners receive their keys. For many recipients, homeownership becomes the starting point for personal healing, financial independence, and stronger family relationships. It enables veterans to build lasting roots in supportive neighborhoods while creating opportunities for future generations.
One veteran who experienced the life-changing impact of the program firsthand is U.S. Navy Petty Officer Robert Orr, who received a Built to Honor home in 2024. Reflecting on his family’s journey, Orr explained that the home has become much more than a place to live.
“This home has been far more than a place to live,” Orr said. “It has been the foundation that has allowed our family to grow, heal and build a future.”
His experience reflects the broader mission of Built to Honor—providing veterans not only with a high-quality residence but also with the stability and peace of mind needed to pursue new opportunities after military service.
The program reached a significant milestone in 2025 when it delivered its 100th mortgage-free home, highlighting more than a decade and a half of supporting America’s military families. As the initiative continues to expand, PulteGroup plans to further strengthen its commitment during 2026, with 10 new home projects being led by nine company divisions across seven states.
Each of the upcoming homes represents an investment in the long-term success of veterans and their families. Rather than simply constructing houses, PulteGroup aims to build environments where veterans can thrive, establish meaningful community connections, and enjoy lasting financial security.

Several of the 2026 Built to Honor projects feature unique characteristics that further demonstrate PulteGroup’s commitment to creating meaningful living experiences for veteran families.
One of the most notable projects will be completed by the company’s West Florida Division, which is constructing two mortgage-free homes located directly next to one another. Upon completion, two veteran families will become lifelong neighbors, creating a built-in support network and shared community experience. This marks only the second time in the program’s history that adjacent homes have been awarded to veteran families, highlighting PulteGroup’s innovative approach to fostering stronger neighborhood connections.
The program also continues to expand into some of PulteGroup’s premier active-adult communities through projects led by the Coastal Carolinas and Minneapolis divisions. Two veteran families will receive homes within Del Webb Savannah and Bellwether by Del Webb, both part of PulteGroup’s nationally recognized Del Webb brand for adults aged 55 and older.
These communities are designed to promote active lifestyles through shared amenities, recreational activities, wellness programs, and strong neighborhood engagement. Another distinctive project is taking shape within The Grow, PulteGroup’s first agrihood community, located in Central Florida. Unlike traditional residential developments, agrihoods are planned communities centered around agriculture, sustainability, healthy living, and outdoor recreation.
