Procore Announces Ajei Gopal as New Chief Executive Officer

Procore Technologies, Inc. , a global leader in construction management software, today announced the appointment of Ajei Gopal as Chief Executive Officer Designate and a member of the company’s Board of Directors. Gopal will succeed Procore’s Founder, President, and CEO, Tooey Courtemanche, following the public release of the company’s third-quarter financial results. His anticipated start date is November 10, 2025. Upon this transition, Courtemanche will step away from day-to-day operational responsibilities and focus on his continued role as Chair of the Board of Directors.

The appointment of Ajei Gopal marks a significant milestone in Procore’s history as the company continues to scale its operations, expand globally, and further solidify its position as the industry leader in digital construction solutions. With more than 35 years of experience at the helm of some of the world’s most respected technology organizations, Gopal brings a wealth of expertise in scaling high-growth businesses, navigating complex global markets, and driving digital innovation.

Most recently, Gopal served as President and CEO of Ansys, Inc. from 2017 to 2025. During his tenure, he led the company through an extraordinary growth trajectory, more than tripling revenue and nearly quadrupling market value. Under Gopal’s leadership, Ansys emerged as the global leader in engineering simulation software, joining the ranks of the S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 while earning recognition as a top employer internationally. His leadership was instrumental in orchestrating Ansys’s $35 billion acquisition by Synopsys, Inc., after which he joined the Synopsys Board of Directors, contributing to strategic guidance and operational oversight at one of the world’s foremost software and semiconductor design companies.

Prior to his tenure at Ansys, Gopal built an extensive track record of success across multiple high-profile technology companies. He held senior executive roles at Hewlett-Packard, CA Technologies, and Symantec, gaining deep operational and strategic experience in software, enterprise technology, and cybersecurity. Additionally, Gopal served as an operating partner at Silver Lake, a leading global private equity firm specializing in technology investments, and founded the start-up ReefEdge Networks, where he led product innovation and market expansion. Collectively, these experiences have shaped Gopal into a versatile and forward-thinking leader, equipped to drive innovation, navigate complex organizational challenges, and scale companies to new heights.

Commenting on his appointment, Gopal said, “Procore is one of the most transformative companies in the construction technology space today. Its award-winning platform and collaborative culture have established it as the clear category leader, fundamentally reshaping one of the world’s most essential yet historically under-digitized industries.

Like Tooey, I am passionate about empowering people to build the physical world through digital innovation. I am inspired by Procore’s unwavering commitment to customer success and its mission-driven culture. Tooey has built an exceptional organization, and I am honored that he and the Board have placed their trust in me to lead Procore into its next phase of growth and global expansion.”

Courtemanche, reflecting on the leadership transition, stated, “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved at Procore over the past 25 years. Our accomplishments are a testament to the dedication of our employees and the strong partnerships we have cultivated across the construction industry. We have found an extraordinary leader in Ajei, who understands that Procore is not just a software company—it is a mission-driven platform empowering people to construct the places that shape communities and economies.

His proven experience in leading a vertical software company to billions in revenue positions him uniquely to help Procore scale, innovate, and capture the opportunities ahead. I look forward to supporting Ajei as Chair of the Board, continuing my commitment to our customers, the industry, and Procore’s long-term success.”

Graham Smith, Lead Independent Director of Procore’s Board of Directors, added, “On behalf of the Board, we are thrilled to welcome Ajei as Procore’s next CEO. His extensive leadership experience and proven ability to drive growth, innovation, and operational excellence at world-class technology organizations make him exceptionally well-suited to guide Procore into the next stage of its journey. We also wish to express our deepest gratitude to Tooey for his visionary leadership in building Procore from a concept into one of the most widely adopted construction management platforms in the world. His contributions have fundamentally transformed how construction projects are planned, managed, and executed globally.”

Founded in 2003, Procore has consistently focused on leveraging technology to address the complexities of construction management, helping teams connect, collaborate, and complete projects more efficiently and safely. The company’s platform integrates a wide array of functionalities, including project management, financial management, quality and safety monitoring, and field productivity tracking. By providing a unified digital ecosystem for construction projects, Procore has enabled stakeholders—from general contractors and subcontractors to architects and engineers—to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance project outcomes.

The appointment of Gopal comes at a pivotal time for Procore as the company seeks to expand its global footprint and explore new opportunities in emerging markets. With increasing demand for digital transformation in construction, there is a growing need for advanced software solutions that can improve efficiency, sustainability, and safety in complex construction environments. Under Gopal’s leadership, Procore aims to accelerate innovation, deepen customer engagement, and expand its suite of solutions to meet the evolving needs of the global construction industry.

In addition to his executive leadership roles, Gopal has been recognized as an influential thought leader in the technology sector, contributing to industry advancements in engineering simulation, enterprise software, and digital transformation. His approach emphasizes aligning technological innovation with business strategy, fostering strong organizational cultures, and prioritizing customer-centric solutions—all qualities that align closely with Procore’s values and mission.

This leadership transition reinforces Procore’s commitment to maintaining strong governance and operational excellence while continuing to scale its innovative solutions for the construction industry. With a focus on sustainable growth, digital innovation, and delivering measurable value to customers, stakeholders, and employees alike, the company is well-positioned to continue its trajectory as a leading global provider of construction management technology.

As the construction industry increasingly embraces digital solutions to address challenges such as labor shortages, rising project complexity, and sustainability requirements, Procore’s platform continues to play a critical role in enabling contractors and project teams to operate more efficiently, make data-driven decisions, and ensure project safety and quality. The combination of Gopal’s leadership expertise and Procore’s established platform and customer base is expected to drive meaningful advancements in construction technology adoption globally.

With this strategic appointment, Procore signals its intention to not only maintain its leadership position but also to accelerate its mission of transforming the construction industry through innovative software solutions. By leveraging Gopal’s extensive experience in scaling technology companies and driving digital transformation, Procore aims to achieve greater operational efficiency, broaden its global reach, and empower construction professionals to build the world more effectively and sustainably.
