Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US Celebrates Diamond Contractors on National HVAC Tech Day

Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US Recognizes Diamond Contractors for Excellence on National HVAC Tech Day

Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC (METUS), a leading provider of all-electric, all-climate Ductless and Ducted Mini-split and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heat pump and air-conditioning solutions, is celebrating its nationwide network of Diamond Contractors in recognition of National HVAC Tech Day, observed annually on June 22.

The annual event honors Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) professionals who play an essential role in keeping homes, businesses and communities comfortable, efficient and safe. Through their technical expertise, problem-solving skills and commitment to quality service, HVAC technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing the systems that support everyday life.

For METUS, National HVAC Tech Day represents an opportunity to recognize the professionals who help deliver reliable heating and cooling solutions while adapting to the rapidly changing technology landscape within the industry.

The Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Contractor® Program, established in 1994, has supported HVAC professionals for more than three decades by providing advanced education, specialized training and resources designed to improve installation quality, product knowledge and customer service.

The program offers multi-state and specialized training opportunities that help independent contractors stay current with evolving HVAC technologies, including new equipment features, installation practices and service techniques. Today, the Diamond Contractor network includes 6,365 participating independent contractors across three membership levels: Elite, Preferred and Standard.

Among these levels, Elite status represents the highest level of sales performance within the program, recognizing contractors who demonstrate strong business performance and continued commitment to Mitsubishi Electric products and services.

The growth and longevity of the Diamond Contractor Program demonstrate the importance of ongoing education in the HVAC industry. Over the past year, more than 200 new independent contractors have joined the program, expanding the network of trained professionals available to support customers across the country.

The program also continues to maintain strong long-term participation. Approximately 64% of participating independent contractors have been members for at least five years, while 33% have remained involved for 10 years or longer. This continued engagement reflects the value contractors place on technical training, industry support and access to Mitsubishi Electric resources.

“The HVAC industry has become far more technology-focused. It’s not just mechanical anymore. The shift excites new technicians while sharpening and elevating industry veterans,” said Paul Chaves, Senior Manager, Training at METUS.

Today’s HVAC professionals work with increasingly advanced systems that include smart technology, Wi-Fi connectivity, digital diagnostics and energy-efficient solutions. As customer expectations and industry standards continue to evolve, technicians require both traditional hands-on expertise and knowledge of modern digital tools.

Chaves emphasized the importance of practical learning experiences, noting that while online education has expanded, real-world training remains essential.

“Technicians now work with Wi-Fi compatible systems and diagnostic software, and while online learning has expanded, hands-on experience like the training offering by METUS is critical,” he said. “Members of the Diamond Contractor Program learn best by doing, and on National HVAC Tech Day, we recognize the professionals building these evolving skills.”

In addition to supporting residential HVAC professionals through the Diamond Contractor Program, METUS also operates the Diamond Commercial Contractor® Program, which focuses on the commercial heating and cooling market.

The Diamond Commercial Contractor Program includes 255 independent contractors who specialize in advanced commercial HVAC solutions. These professionals receive specialized training to install, service and support commercial systems, including Mitsubishi Electric’s latest X Generation VRF systems.

Through these programs, METUS continues to invest in workforce development and help HVAC professionals expand their technical capabilities. The company’s training initiatives are designed to support technicians at every stage of their careers, from those entering the industry to experienced professionals looking to enhance their expertise.

As demand grows for energy-efficient, all-electric heating and cooling solutions, skilled HVAC technicians remain critical to the success of the transition toward more sustainable building technologies. Their ability to properly install and maintain advanced systems ensures customers receive the performance, comfort and efficiency expected from modern HVAC equipment.

By recognizing Diamond Contractors and Diamond Commercial Contractors on National HVAC Tech Day, METUS highlights the dedication of professionals who keep communities comfortable while helping shape the future of the HVAC industry.

The company remains committed to supporting its contractor network through education, innovation and resources that strengthen technical skills and promote industry best practices nationwide.
