Macau’s First Two-Way Eight-Lane Sea-Crossing Bridge, The Fourth Macao-Taipa Bridge, Held a Closure Ceremony,On March 18, the closing ceremony of the fourth cross-sea bridge connecting Macao and Taipa, which was built by China Railway Baoji Bridge Group and CREC Jiujiang Bridge Engineering under China Railway Hi-Tech Industry, was held.

Located on the east side of the Macao Friendship Bridge, the Macao-Taipa Fourth Bridge Project spans the Outer Port Channel and the Macao Waterway, connecting the three important ports of Macao, namely, sea, land and air, and is a key node in the construction of Macao’s urban transport system. The total length of the main line of the bridge is 3.085 kilometers, of which the sea-crossing section is about 2.86 kilometers long. The main bridge is 1370 meters long. There are two navigable bridges with a main span of 280 meters. The design service life of the structure is 100 years. The design lane number of the main line of the bridge is two-way eight lanes, and the middle two lanes are motorcycle lanes, which is the first two-way eight-lane cross-sea bridge in Macao. Water, electricity, gas, communication and other public facilities pipelines are laid along the bridge, which can meet the living and economic development needs of residents in Reclamation Area A of the new town and help the city develop sustainably in an all-round way.

The fourth Macao-Taipa Bridge is not only an important traffic connection between the artificial island at the port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the New Town Reclamation Area A and Taipa, but also the main traffic artery for the residents of the New Town Reclamation Area A. After the bridge is completed and opened to traffic, it will effectively alleviate the traffic pressure of the existing three bridges, improve the traffic capacity between the Macao Peninsula and Taipa and Coloane, and together with the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, it will become an important channel for Macao to penetrate into the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, which is of great significance for Macao to play its role in connecting the world and promote Macao to better integrate into the overall situation of national development.
