LP Building Solutions Announces Leadership Transition: President Jason Ringblom to Succeed CEO Brad Southern in 2026
LP Building Solutions (LP), a global leader in high-performance building materials, has announced a major leadership transition as Chief Executive Officer Brad Southern plans to retire effective February 19, 2026. Southern, who has led the company since 2017, will be succeeded by current President Jason Ringblom. The succession marks the culmination of a carefully planned and comprehensive process overseen by LP’s Board of Directors in collaboration with Southern.
A Legacy of Transformation and Growth
Brad Southern’s tenure as CEO is marked by strategic transformation, innovation, and record-setting performance. When Southern took the helm in 2017, LP was primarily known for its oriented strand board (OSB) operations. Under his leadership, the company successfully repositioned itself as a global leader in specialty building products, expanding its presence in the residential, commercial, and remodeling markets.
“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Brad for his visionary leadership and lasting impact on LP,” said LP Lead Independent Director Dustan McCoy. “Brad repositioned the company as a global leader in specialty building products, strengthened its financial performance, and built a culture grounded in safety, innovation, and accountability. Under his leadership, LP’s share price grew fivefold, and the company returned more than $4 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases. Thanks to his guidance, LP is well positioned for continued success.”
Southern’s leadership was characterized by a disciplined approach to capital allocation, operational excellence, and a strong focus on safety and sustainability. He guided the company through industry challenges, global market shifts, and the post-pandemic construction boom with strategic agility.
A New Era with Jason Ringblom
In announcing Ringblom’s appointment, McCoy emphasized that the Board’s decision came after an extensive and rigorous search process. “After a thorough and rigorous search, the Board is confident that Jason is exceptionally well-equipped to lead LP into its next chapter of success,” McCoy stated. “He helped design and execute the strategy driving our growth and led the successful integration of our Siding and OSB businesses. His significant commercial and operational expertise will ensure a smooth transition and sustained progress.”
Ringblom brings over two decades of experience with LP, having joined the company in 2004. Over the years, he has held key leadership positions across operations, marketing, and sales. Before becoming President, Ringblom served as Executive Vice President and General Manager for LP’s OSB and Siding divisions, where he played a critical role in aligning manufacturing capabilities with evolving market needs.
Now overseeing all global manufacturing and commercial operations, Ringblom has earned a reputation for driving organizational performance through collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.
Reflections on Leadership and the Road Ahead
Southern reflected on his journey with gratitude and optimism. “It has been the honor of my career to lead LP’s 4,300-member team,” he said. “Together, we’ve strengthened the business and built a foundation for long-term growth. I’m deeply grateful to our team members and the Board for their partnership. Jason is an exceptional leader who knows our business, our people, and our customers. His experience and perspective will guide LP into its next phase of growth.”
Ringblom, set to officially assume the CEO role in February 2026, expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity and confidence in LP’s future. “It’s an incredible honor to become CEO and build on the strong foundation established under Brad’s leadership,” Ringblom said. “The LP team has achieved remarkable success, and I’m confident we’ll continue that progress—keeping safety at the forefront, driving innovation, and relentlessly pursuing improvement in everything we do. It’s an exciting time to be part of LP, and I look forward to working with our talented team to shape the next era of our growth.”
A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Forest Products Marketing and Business Management, Ringblom brings both technical expertise and business acumen to his new role. His deep understanding of LP’s culture and operations will play a pivotal role in maintaining stability while advancing the company’s long-term strategic objectives.
