Lark Electric Partners with American Gridwork to Drive Regional Growth
Lark Electric, one of Kentucky’s longest-established commercial and industrial electrical contractors, has announced a strategic partnership with American Gridwork Partners aimed at accelerating regional expansion while maintaining the leadership, workforce, customer relationships and operating identity that have supported the company for more than 60 years.
As part of the partnership, Ross Hyland will continue serving as CEO of Lark Electric. Charles Hughes and Terry Cooney will take on expanded executive responsibilities focused on division growth, operational performance and community development. They will work closely with Lark’s existing management and field teams to support the company’s next stage of development.
Hughes brings extensive experience in commercial electrical construction and is a fourth-generation electrician. Cooney previously co-owned May Electric, a long-standing electrical services company that supported communities across Kentucky for decades before being acquired by Lark in 2023.

Founded in Owensboro, Kentucky, in 1963, Lark Electric has developed a strong presence in commercial and industrial electrical construction, electrical service and industrial maintenance. Over the years, the company has built long-term relationships with customers throughout Kentucky and neighboring markets.
Lark has also pursued growth through strategic expansion. Before joining American Gridwork Partners, the company strengthened its regional footprint by combining with May Electric and Patterson-Westbrook Electric. These businesses were brought together under Lark’s leadership, creating a broader platform of electrical expertise and field capabilities.
The new partnership with American Gridwork Partners represents the next phase of this strategy, providing Lark with additional resources and access to complementary infrastructure capabilities.

Population growth, rising electricity consumption, industrial investment, reshoring of manufacturing and the increasing adoption of automation are creating new requirements for electrical construction, maintenance and infrastructure services.
Lark intends to expand beyond its established Kentucky markets, with a particular focus on Nashville and Middle Tennessee. American Gridwork Partners already has an operating presence in the Nashville market, providing Lark with an opportunity to build on an existing regional platform.
The expansion is expected to help Lark serve customers undertaking new industrial, infrastructure and technology-related projects while creating additional opportunities for its workforce.
Combining Electrical and Underground Infrastructure
The partnership also strengthens the connection between Lark and PMT Site, a Nashville-based civil and underground infrastructure contractor acquired by American Gridwork Partners in 2025.
PMT Site specializes in foundational infrastructure work supporting the repair, replacement, expansion and modernization of power and water systems. Its services include site preparation, underground utilities, power infrastructure and water infrastructure. The company supports projects involving grid modernization, large-scale industrial facilities, electric vehicle infrastructure and AI-related data center development.
By combining PMT Site’s underground construction capabilities with Lark’s electrical expertise, customers in Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee can gain access to a broader range of infrastructure services through a coordinated regional platform.
The relationship can be particularly valuable for complex projects where underground utility installation, electrical construction and fiber or cabling work must be closely coordinated.
