After serving as Acting Managing Director of Laing O’Rourke’s Australian business for the past 12 months, Mark Dimmock has been officially appointed to the role on a permanent basis. His confirmation marks a significant milestone for the company as it continues to solidify its leadership and future growth strategy in the Australian market.
Rebecca Hanley, who has been instrumental in driving the company’s strategic initiatives, will remain in her position as Group Director of Strategic Programmes. In this role, Rebecca will maintain her focus on advancing Laing O’Rourke’s long-term growth strategies across both the Australian and European markets. This leadership structure highlights Laing O’Rourke’s commitment to achieving sustainable growth and innovation across its global operations.
As Managing Director, Mark Dimmock will now take the reins of the Australia Executive Committee (AEC), where he will play a pivotal role in guiding strategic decisions and operational priorities. In addition to leading the AEC, he will represent the Australian business as part of Laing O’Rourke’s Group Executive Committee, ensuring alignment with the company’s global vision.
Mark brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position. A qualified civil engineer with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM), Mark’s career spans decades and includes successful project delivery across multiple regions, including Australia, Asia, Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. His international experience positions him well to lead the Australian business as it navigates an increasingly complex and competitive construction landscape.
Before stepping into the Acting Managing Director role in 2023, Mark served as Director of Clients & Markets, where he focused on business development and strengthening client relationships. His strategic approach and deep understanding of the industry have been key factors in Laing O’Rourke’s ability to secure and deliver major projects across the region.
